Took delivery of my MX 90D at the Decatur, GA SC today. Really happy with it - had a great experience. They were super patient and I was there for about 2 and a half hours total.
Before I get into the details - just want to say that again. I am so happy with the car. It rides great, all the features I picked were perfect, and it looks fantastic. All the little details on alignment, etc. - don't care about it at all now that I actually have the car. Nothing is perfect - if I compare the car as it is now to how it would be with all the issues I found fixed, it would increase from a 9.9999 to a 10. Really was delivered in great condition and exceeded my expectations. Oh, and it is so fast. Just so fast... cannot imagine what the P100D is like - I could barely unlesh the 90D without running into something.
A few details for those interested...
The vehicle on My Tesla switched to a new status about 24 hours prior to my appointment (right around when the store manager said it had arrived) - "Your Tesla is undergoing preparation for delivery".
Arrived at the SC on time - could barely find a parking spot - must have been 50 cars awaiting delivery. I was at the same SC a month ago and it had maybe 10 cars waiting. Two cars were dropped off by trucks straight from Freemont while I was taking delivery - no idea where they are going to put them all.
Let my kids take a look with me before we did any paperwork (they just checked it out with my wife and left shortly after - remaining for the whole thing would have bored them). During the excitement I almost forgot to take pictures of the kids and my wife and I with the car - grabbed them from the car and made that happen before they left.
Paperwork was easy (financed via Tesla) and took about 15 minutes. They had it all ready to go. Nice umbrella waiting for me in a gift bag in the car - no other freebies but no big deal. They actually ran out of rear license plate holders but said they would give me next time I was at the SC.
Spent a while inspecting the car with the Product Specialist - I read the checklist before going but decided to focus mostly on looking for anything that was worn or damaged and didn't actually follow the checklist while I was there. She was very patient.
MC Pearl White paint looked great - no damage at all or imperfections - maybe a few parts that needed buffing (they said they would detail when I came back next time). Saw a slight nick on the driver's side mirror but it will probably buff out too.
Hot topic here so I will address it. I did see a few alignment issues. I looked at a few cars (including my other brand car at home) and most have these to varying degrees. Honestly - I was really worried about this from reading this thread (it was the first thing I checked). I don't really care now that I have had the car for a few hours. They wrote down the alignment problems between the brightworks and doors - it really was very minimal (about 1-2 millimeters off). Since they documented it I have the option of them trying to improve/fix it - but I am sure they would have done it via warranty anyway.
Saw a few nicks on the plastic on the frunk and one other area in the back - something I would probably do myself in about 20 minutes putting something in the car. Wrote it down but not a big deal.
Some slight issue with the aluminum on the trim inside the FWDs - but not a big deal. Also something looked like curb rash on one of the rims but I think it is some glue now that I have it home - they did write that down too though.
I made a SC appt before I left - about 4 weeks out due to how busy they are. The issues on the list were all so minimal I am not even worried about getting any of them fixed. I wrote them down so I have the option, but am a little hesitant to have them pull apart the car for stuff that is really not a big deal. Maybe they have easy ways to adjust this stuff so it is good to check just in case.
I did notice there were some scratches on the center console cover once I got home - wish I saw that when I was there - will e-mail them about it. Again, not a big deal since I am sure the gloss obeche will get some scratches here and there as it actually gets used.
The product specialist spent over an hour going over the features after that. Really patient and despite having an MX at one point overnight during the sales process and watching so many videos - she showed me a few things I wasn't aware of.
When it was all done I checked to see if they had a Chademo adapter in stock or all weather mats (no on both fronts). Strangest thing is you really don't leave with any paperwork - you just drive off into the sunset after the walk through.
Been sitting in my car for a few hours setting things up. Had a pending update so I did that too - took over an hour and the car appears to be totally broken when it is in the middle of the update. Just let it finish and it will spring back to life.
Ok - long post! Will try to get some pictures up later but it is a super nice feeling once you get the car finally. Based on how many I saw in the lot I am sure the folks still waiting will hear some news soon. They are moving fast into this last week of the year!
Thanks all for the support on this thread - fun ride through all of this
