Model X deliveries with Intel-based (model 3) MCUs

The Model X forums certainly don’t get the sort of activity as the S. Hoping more people that are taking delivery of their X this week can chime in on whether they got the update.

My MX 75D went into production last week and appears to be in transit. I’m scheduled for a 3/26 pickup. Good chance I get it, but the word about X’s and the upgraded MCU has been quiet

@onlinespending I'm scheduled for arrival on or before the 26th in Portland as well, production last week and just went to 'In Transit' last night. Here's hoping we both get the new MCU!

Cheers to that! My account page still shows as “currently in production” but my delivery specialist claims it’s in transit. Either way, it appears it started production last week, so I’m hopeful I got the new MCU. Exciting times to be a new Tesla owner, between the new MCU and much improved AP software that appears to be coming out now. What flavor did you go with? I got Midnight Silver+Cream interior+carbon fiber+7 seats+EAP.

Nice color choice! I went with midnight silver too, 100D, black interior/headliner, ash wood, 5-seat, EAP and PUP. I probably won't make it to Portland until later in the week, pretty sure they are going to be very busy at the end of the quarter.

Very nice. I’m jealous that you got the 100D and PUP! Didn’t mention mine is 75D. Just couldn’t justify the cost of those upgrades, given that it’ll mostly be a commuter car and I can always preheat the car (so the heated steering wheel/back seats aren’t as important). The other PUP features really didn’t interest me

My 100X was supposedly built started 3/5. Available for pickup tomorrow. I just asked about the MCU. I’m waiting to hear back.

If it’s the old version, I may refuse delivery. I hate to say it.

I’ve been waiting years for a Tesla. But, why would I knowingly pay and walk out with outdated equipment?

Let us know. I was supposed tp pick mine up today but apparently it got left in Fremont.

I have a December delivery, haven't checked yet but I'm sure i have the old MCU which is completely adequate.

Sure, it would be nice to have the new one and it sucks to have barely missed it but the reality is you really don't use it that much, it's not a gaming computer.

dang, feel bad for any Jan/Feb owners who didn't get the new MCU upgrade. From the looks of it, it is a substantial speed difference between the new MCU vs. old MCU

I'm one of those poor guys who narrowly missed out, but I haven't honestly noticed any issues with screen response. Especially not while actually driving the car!

I had to check the spec to confirm that I did actually have the old MCU as it's not anywhere near as sluggish as some videos I've seen posted. I can certainly see that the satnav refresh has improved with the new MCU, but that's about all I noticed. All the other controls and settings are pretty slick anyway, with no obvious lag.

So while it's a nice improvement to have, I don't think it's a big deal unless perhaps in future they significantly start to differentiate software for the new and old MCUs.

I took delivery of X100D on 3/14 VIN 877xx and do not have the new chip. Not sure I care much since I rarely surf the web in car and other functions are speedy enough.

BTW if you refuse delivery, I believe you lose your deposit--right?

Yes. Although, I believe that you don’t lose it if you just want to buy a different Tesla MX or MS.

It's hard to believe that people are willing to take large financial hits for what is a very minor and unnoticeable improvement unless you are extremely anal.

If I take a 5-10k hit to get the better MCU, and the new MCU on average saves me 3 seconds a day, what is that costing me over a 5 year period?

Quick calculation says 90 minutes. If anyone is going to offer me 5k/90 minutes of my time please point to where I can sign up!

Happy for those that happen to get it in their car, wish I had, but I wouldn't pay $500 extra for it.
