The only issue I had which was fixed in 30 seconds was a missing clip underneath by the drivers rear wheel.

Correct. I’m taking delivery of my X tomorrow and will ask for old one but if not, I actually have a spare one at home.

I emailed my Delivery Specialist to ask for it up front. Will let you know how it goes. Pretty annoyed that they try to sneak in this downgrade without calling it out specifically on the home charging website:

Home charging installation

On that page, it makes no mention that the second generation is actually worse than the first generation.

For three years I have used my spare as a home charger (I found it on eBay for $200 - some guy had found it in a storage locker he claimed). Otherwise, I think they really want you to use an HPWC and this should really stay in the vehicle for travel purposes. In reality it’s not that big of a deal, it really depends on if you are using it after a long distance and have a lot of charge to get in a short period, otherwise, for 95% of people there is still plenty to get a full overnight charge....

Good luck - I hope you get what you want and enjoy the new X!

Just a little annoying that I paid extra to install a 50 Amp NEMA 14-50, instead of a 30 Amp, and I am not going to be able to use it without spending additional cash on another charger. Oh well, such is life. Nothing to be upset about when there's so much more to be grateful for ☺️

My son is in Boulder at CU - you guys have a lot of snow?

Not much down in CO Springs -- think Boulder has been pretty dry too this winter, so far. It's been nice and warm though. :)

I hear you on the install...hopefully they have an old one lying around. Did you order in a storefront? If so, go in and ask them to help you find a referral - then you could get a free HPWC....

I just took delivery yesterday and got the new charger (square one). It was charging at about 21/22 miles per hour. It's good enough for us. Although it took a few tries in the beginning to get it to charge. It was turning red (the ring) and finally I just unplug the thing, wait 30 seconds and plug it back to the NEMA 14-50 outlet and it seems to fix it. This morning when I tried to unplug it from the car, the ring won't show white when I push the button... it shows blue. It took me a couple of minutes to realized that the car is locked. LOL. I need to start reading the manual...

Also the car didn't come with tow package. They said they will put on the list to be install later. They also don't have a 2nd key fob and have to be delivered later because it was a show room car.

Oh an the AutoPilot took about 20 to 30 miles of driving before it shows up. I was worried that they didn't have it enabled. It is so cool and so scary. For the first 10 miles, I kept my foot hovering over the brake in case it forgot to brake.

Did you buy inventory car

Me? Yes kind of. We didn't want to order one as the year was running out and at the time we didn't know if the tax credit will survive. So we looked for one that is available. They didn't tell us it was it was showroom car until we picked it up yesterday. I really don't mind it is the mileage is still under 20 miles which means it is not a test drive car. And I think that show room car probably has all the minor defects fixed perfectly as this is what they have to show potential customers.

FYI - took delivery of my P100DL today - literally ALMOST flawless....

1. Front Driver’s Tire well - the finish trim had one clip at bottom that was popped out - SC fixed it in 5 seconds (surprised when they detailed it they did NOT notice).
2. Moulding issues:
A. Drivers side FWD - the Moulding that goes over the back lip of the FWD/body had been partially folded and it was going UNDER the body on the roof which would have allowed rain water into the cabin - it looks like it happened at one point and just creased itself - EASY fix.

B. Moulding at bottom of passenger FWD (attached to the body) had a tear in it - no one could figure out how that happened - they will replace it.

C. The worst one - front passenger door - Moulding surrounding the SMALL window and over the large window had been caught under the SMALL window - it appears that the small window was just rushed on the install and they put it partially over the rubber Moulding. SC said they would replace it by my wrap guy who now has the vehicle said he thinks he can just fix it himself so they don’t mess-up the dechrome.

3. Missing item - even though the P100DL says the phone dock comes with it - the delivery team had missed that. They handed me one there.

4. CHECK YOUR RIMS! Mine were smudged and we had to clean to make sure they weren’t scratched. One had a minor scratch but, frankly, you wouldn’t notice if you didn’t look closely and since I am changing them out I didn’t really care because it was so minor.

Overall - everything was pretty flawless. Floor mats were installed, trailer hitch in trunk along with sunshade, tow eye, and tire inflator (we get it in MD by law). Doors and seams were excellent, no creaks or noises, no shudders.

It drove like a bat out of hell for the 29 miles to the wrap guy, smooth, quiet, no wind noise (even with the bad passenger seal). A little surprised that XM did not give a free trial, probably will just use the phone app since I already pay for it on my wife’s Audi. Slacker had SOME limited skipping (like in my S) but the DS told me they have FINALLY figured out the problem (Slacker and Tune In have changed the encryption and they are working on a fix).

Gannon in Rockville did the actually delivery walk around - being an S owner wasn’t really a major thing for me - spent most of my time checking everything out.

Thanks to @LS.. for helping out today - I hope yours goes as smoothly tomorrow!

Picked up my MX 100D today as well. Paper work had no record of my missing tow hitch credit that they agreed to, so glad I had email confirmation of this conversation!

Outside of that the car also almost flawless!
  • I heard some minor squeaking leaving the delivery show room when rolling down the drivers seat window.
  • Even tho I asked for auto pilot when putting my deposit in, they never actually put it in, (or billed me for it). adding this online now.
  • There were some noticeable scratches on the driver side fwd plastic foot/floor panel.
  • Noticed a heavy drift to the right when driving on the freeway. Possible alignment issue that SC will checkout.
I did my best to really find other things popped out, missing, scratched and really couldn’t find them! All in all, much better experience than I had imagined.

And we hit the road from Fremont to San Diego straight after! Loved every minute of the super chargers along the way!

I am almost in tears…… Due to wastage of paper on printing the checklist. That is how flawless my delivery was earlier this evening. It is nothing I would not have spotted while walking around the car, there were two panels that were not aligned left side the right side. The hood was slightly out of alignment. Other than that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the vehicle. While driving I did hear some wind noise but it is possible that it was not wind noise - it was just ‘the lack of an engine noise’. I do appreciate the checklist more than anyone can imagine. However it does not make sense to get paranoid and wonder what could go wrong. Tesla as a company and its representatives are committed to providing the users with an extraordinary experience. Forget the past. Live in the present and live into the future you create. This car and experience provided with it was way better than any I’ve ever had. I highly doubt I will sleep tonight. Lots of money to be spent on buying accessories that I haven’t already purchased for my model X.
