Model X Delivery info

Been told by Tesla today - no vin match and no April deliveries will be made so May - boiling !
They told me May too - which was why I upgraded and grabbed what was probably one of the last Inventory P100D's to be sold with the full £3.5k grant - and I didn't even know about the changes then, just was not happy about waiting that long and even tho' if was a lot more £'s I can't say I mind having performance even if I know I will rarely use it (had an Alpina B5 that was 3.4s 0-60 before this one and after I'd had it a couple of weeks and enjoyed a few fun blasts, I drove it around like a granddad - which is fair 'cos I am a granddad :p)

i ordered a performance in blue with the 22 inch rims and white interior. 5 seat. (had 7 in the xc90 and used them three times in two years)

i really want the white interior and the wheels - externally i'd be happy with grey or black
They defo had that in black before they got taken down. I did not want the bigger wheels as I heard they compromise ride and range - gonna get the std ones painted black 'cos it is a lot cheaper than buying Tesla's black ones but wanted the extra rubber on the wheel - had low profiles (well rubber bands really) on the Alpina and lived in fear of every curb or large pothole.
I reckon when they come back on you'll be able to snap one up - I know there were 2 left, one for 105k and the other at 106k - can't remember which one had the white interior but one of them did

I don’t want to effect the quote I had through salary sacrifice. To be fair to tursker they did ask me when I ordered if I wanted that particular spec , indicating that if I wanted to get something from stock I could have it within a month. At the time my car was months away from contract end but now it’s going back a week Friday. I may ring tomorrow and say I’m a little flexible if it moves things along

Did you get anywhere with this the chap I spoke to today wasn't as helpful as the lad yesterday, he didn't advise me of any cars that were available even though I asked what was there. Inventory is still not showing either so either all gone or it's taking a while for the £3500 grant thing to be removed.

My thoughts for what it might be worth ...

... I just spent the best part of £90k with for a new car that everyone tells me will turn up with a list of faults that will take them a while to fix

... and? :p

I'm hoping that some of the stories I have heard are 'old news' now and they have improved a bit since then

No, I don't think "old news", but only the bad news makes the headlines. Fit & Finish, and reliability of the "fiddly" bits, particularly on MX, are definitely better than Day One.

Customer Love on MS / MX has been ditched, so don't expect any/much. You will be better looked after at provincial service centre, than Heathrow ... but Heathrow may well have earlier delivery slot as they hand over a lot more cars (like 100-a-day rather than 10-a-day). But you'll only a get the Warehouse handover at Heathrow ...

The MS I had 4 years ago was whip-the-sheet-off and handover-guy spending more than half an hour with me. MS replacement last Nov (at Heathrow) was group Powerpoint presentation for M3 (not a lot of use, if you aren't familiar with the MS already) and "here's-the-keys and off-you-go".

I don't need to have an hour of someone's 1-to-1 time baked into the price ... but given how easy it would be to have Current Delivery Status mechanised into the website for Self Service I'm staggered they don't at least do that. They could give no end of Customer Love via the website ... even a separate "Press 1 for MS / MX sales", given the small number, would be something. Not sure if Tesla want to totally move away from High-End to "bulk", or just are over stretched currently. Anyway, if you are able to set your expectation at about that level you'll avoid a fair bit of stress!

I've had 4 cars since last June. One had a panel gap fixed in 10 minutes on collection, the rest were fault free. But I didn't come from the Mercedes et al fit&finish expectation lounge.

I’m driving an XC90 T8 at the minute and every time I drive it I think my god what if I tie myself into a MX and it isn’t as good

XC90 T8 0-60 mph 6.1 seconds (MX cooking-version is 4.4s, Performance is 2.7s ... if you are in a hurry then get the MS-P instead :)

XC90 T8 Safety rating: Rollover Risk 15.90% 4-Stars. (MX Risk = 9.30% 5-Stars ... surprised any risk at all given that my recollection is that they failed to get it to tip over at all).

For the rest all tests, for both, were 5-Star. I think Tesla still holds NHTSA leaderboard 1, 2 and 3 for its three models ...

Not sure what XC90 T8 might have that will leave you disappointed with an MX :)

I don't need it to be that quick, I've had lots of fast cars before but know I don't drive like that any more

I've had fast cars before too ... but they were barely a match for the standard MS / MX let alone the P :)

My last MS was a P ... didn't bother on the replacement as after I ahd done Mates Bragging I didn't ever have a need for it ...

ffs - they lied, or if I am being generous, they made a mistake.

Neither of those ... they "make stuff up". Nope, I have no idea why ... Seems obvious to everyone other than Tesla Support Staff that "Dunno" or "I'll find out" would be much better.

I know I can get a code added after the event if I speak to my contact.

I doubt that :( Many have tried, other than "immediately after placing order" I can't remember any that have been successful. Referral used to be worth a lot (from memory the referral code got me a £Grand off my first car), but now it is worth about 20-quid of home electricity, or maybe 80-quid if you were to actually need Supercharge on long trips within first 6 months ... so perhaps only in the nice-to-have category ...

P.S. I may have already said elsewhere, but I do think it odd you have VIN and no more concrete delivery info. "Smells" to me that something has gone wrong ...

... but wouldn't be the first time that first-news is a Final Invoice with less than 48 hours until Collection Appointment. Fingers crossed for you on that :)

Bristol as my contact there has promised to give it a look over before I travel for 2 hours to get it

My last was an Alpina B5 but BMW service was outstandingly crap - I ended up selling the car rather than having to endure them looking after it (still in warranty otherwise I'd have gone to one of the many independent specialists that are so much better than main dealer)

Alpina was 3.4, but as you said, never used it day to day and I originally went for LR and only got the P 'cos that was what they had available in a colour I could live with

Completely agree, if you don't know then tell me that and then go find out!

He did do it once before for me, but like you said, free Supercharging on the X anyway so all you get is an entry in the competition to win a Y when they come here - you know, based on the buying experience so far I am NOT that lucky :p
