Model X Delivery Update

When I posted the thread, the sub-forum was empty. It needed something to keep people waiting, lol.

Yeah, just catching up to the other threads. Too many 'production' themed threads going on. I tied the web site change to what my DS said last week was that the vehicle was about to enter production. Time to bug her again :)
I agree there are two many posts asking for the same exact information. There have been at least 3-4 posts asking for for model X delivery information. Too confusing. Why not just use ModelXTracker.com then we wouldn't have to go throught multible posts and threads to find out information. Just run a report.

If they go off by year of manufacture and they deliver mine around nov-dec, I will have a past model year car in about 30 days.

and who knows if there are QC issues, they might even push delivery of my 2016 MX in early 2017.
If you get a new car from another manufacturer in July you can have the past model year within a month, it will always be a time then a new model year comes. And it's widely known that Tesla is making several changes every week so the longer you wait the better car you will get. The question is just, is it worth the longer waiting for the car?

The amount of physical changes to the Model S and Model X will be rare as Tesla is committed to getting the Model 3 to the market. Since Tesla uses the calendar rather than a Model Year you won't see a 2017 Model until last couple weeks of December, early January.

ModelXTracker doesn't have ability to upload pictures, some people like to show their delivery. I think it's a great place for statistics and information but people want to share their story.

That's different. People are more than welcome to share their joy with us here on the forums. But having a thread to capture stats is silly, that's what ModelXTracker | Welcome is for. All we ask is for people to report their delivery and other stats on modelXTracker so we can have a visual of how long it might be until we get ours! :)

I think we'll be just as disappointed with those results as we are with the ones from forum posts. Data sparsity being the biggest problem, and Tesla's uneven delivery process being the other.

Guessing at delivery is such a gamble right now, at least until there are more volume deliveries. I live in a town where I see multiple Teslas nearly every time I go out to the grocery store. Still haven't seen a MX in the wild. I wouldn't have guessed that.

Last week in front of the Red Grape in Sonoma there was a silver X, the owner came out to get in and let me look inside and opened the fwd. Did not like the color and the owner was not in the mood to show more. Only one I have seen in Sonoma.

So on Friday I decided to ask my delivery specialist a question. I said you are a DS for hundreds yes? He then said, "yes". So then I said, "Out of the people you manage how many cars have you had delivered so far? Answer "Zero". Yikes! That seemed crazy to me... Given I am taking delivery in Santa Monica and I have a Vin in the 300's. Next week will be my six week deadline and I am wondering how much longer this will be...

You don't get a special order from a big three car manufacturer in six weeks. Why would you expect a six week turn around from a low production number manufacturer?

Elon said they were putting out around 250 cars a week as of Jan 1st. This is definitely not happening. Just reporting is all... I'll happily drive my S in the meantime.

Also, if I'm honest, patience is not my strong suit... I would prefer my delivery be in ludicrous mode as well ;)

I hesitate to add to this as technically I haven't received my car yet, but perhaps this can also be an exercise in inspection times. I was told that my car should be arriving at the local SC today and that it would take about a week for full inspection and detailing before I received it, so hopefully next Monday I will have my X. As soon as I do and once I am able to physically remove myself from the car out of happiness, I will write the update that it has indeed arrived!

Best,

Tony

Didn't know Iron Man is getting an X

I was told it could be another month or more before I get my car VIN 3**. This week is the six week deadline my DS gave me. Just wanted to give people a heads up. They told me my car was painted and ready but waiting for new parts to make it as perfect as possible before they deliver it.

My delivery date keeps changing. As of yesterday it was Thursday now it is Friday.
