Never mind; I figured it out. It's related to carrying capacity. The low profile tires can't carry as much weight.

I can think of some pretty choice words for Tesla on this, but I'll just leave it at, WOW!

This has been the most frustrating thing about Tesla. All I want to know are the front seat dimensions so I will know whether not I can even fit in a model X, but Tesla never bothers to post any of those dimensions so I have no idea until I can actually sit in one and find out for myself. Even to get external dimensions like overall length and width to see if it would fit in my garage was a pain. This is not the right way to do it Tesla.

I'd also like to know if Tesla makes seatbelt extenders because of my size and my wife's height we use them in our cars, but there has been nothing about that either.

FYI..Tesla did not say anything about copyright...After reading all the issues with copyright materials on the forums and then seeing a copyright in the manual. I decided it was best that I not include pitures of the manual in case someone may have had issues with it. So measurements were made and are now included above...coincidentally they are exactly what was in the manual....

True but less than BMW X5 @ 41.6' and just slightly wider than Audi Q7 at 39.4. For such a large vehicle I'm impressed.....

I MEASURED CLEARANCE OF MX VS MS FROM GROUND, AND SECOND ROW KNEE SPACE

Today I had the opportunity to take some measurements:

Distance from bottom of drivers door to the ground, at normal suspension level:
Model X: 12" Model S: 10"

Distance from lowest point in front of vehicle to ground, at normal suspension level:
Model X: 8" Model S: 7"

Distance from lowest point in rear of vehicle to ground, at normal suspension level:
Model X: 6" Model S: 7"
(a surprise, due to a metal bracket)

Distance from second row seat to back of first row passenger seat ("knee room") when first row is as far back as possible, and on Model X, when second row is as far back as possible:
Model X: 7" Model S: 10"
(also surprising.. delivery person said Model X may have especially long adjustment span in first row, so this is not a far comparison)

Both passenger seats where then adjusted to the subjective comfort zone of the 5"10" delivery person. Warning, this was not scientific.

It would be good if someone else double checked these last two paragraphs!

The Yukon is so massive that in the photo showing both cars from the rear, the X looks more like an S.

Calthron, your pics and experience is of specific interest to me as I am replacing my 2004 Chevy Tahoe (which has been an awesome car!) with the X. I would love to hear your comparison of the two. I mainly want to make sure the X can haul our 3 kids, dog and gear to the mountains for skiing, snowshoeing, mountain biking, camping, etc. With frunk, can you hold about the same amount of gear in X as your Yukon?

As another point of reference, a modern Honda Odyssey (ours is a 2013 but I haven't seen a body style change yet) has a mirror-to-mirror width in the same range. I couldn't find official measurements including mirrors (excluding, it's 79.2"), but I measured by dropping a line from each and came up with 89.4". Length is about 4" longer, at 202.9".
