I noticed when my 2018 Model X is in the sun (Black Color) the falcon door stops prematurely as if there is an obstruction. It seems to be related to the door panel that is heated by the sun. It thinks there is an obstacle and stops opening.
I have a 2021 that won’t open sometimes. Took it into Tesla service. They tried to blame my ppf wrap saying that it blocks the sensor and retains the heat which also affects the sensor in the door.

I also noticed in a Rich Rebuiulds video the sensor sometimes comes loose and ends up pointing upward slightly causing general reliability issues.
in my case, the sensor came loose and pointing downward, so it would always think there are obstacles (red vertical bar) even when nothing was next to the X
