Maybe, maybe not. I have friends who have a large pickup. $60K+. Now add in fuel for life of the vehicle, and maintenance every year or 5000 miles. Viola! Over $100K. Is a pickup luxury? How about a Suburban? There are many vehicles that suck gas and cost a bundle, but aren't "luxury".

For $100K, one should expect superiority. Tesla delivers that in spades. The cheap (or free, in my case) fuel is part of the equation.
