Model X Self-presenting front door

I appreciate all of the responses. I still have had no luck at all getting this to work and my local Tesla Ranger has had no solutions for me. I saw that in 8.0 that the release notes stated that the behavior of this feature has been improved.

I have since installed 8.0 with still no luck at all. I would love for this feature to work for me!
After the 8.0 update you should notice your car now unlocks (lights come on and mirrors unfold) as you approach. Does that happen for you?

Hello All, I took delivery of my Model X p90d last month and have been trying to get the "Self-Presenting" front door to work. I really like the feature allowing me to have my hands full (on the phone or laptop bag, etc) and having the driver's door open automatically. Even if I decided not to use them everyday I still think it is a "cool" feature.

So from what I read if I have the "Auto Door" setting to ON, this feature should work as described triangulating the fey fob's location. When I took delivery of my Model X, it was the only thing that the Delivery Specialist didn't demonstrate. I cant for the life of me get this feature to work with either of the Key fobs.

I spoke with my Service ranger and he came by to reset everything and attempt to get it to work but with no luck... I have done some searching and really have not found too much on this topic.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I missing a toggle or setting somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll share my story with the self presenting front doors. They work fine for about a month and then they just stopped working.
The car went back to the Tesla service center and they diagnosed the issue as a faulty body control module. When I got the car back, it worked for a week and same issue "self presented" (pun intended).
I sent the car back in (they had it for a week) at which time they diagnosed the issue as a shorting antenna (supposedly the antenna in the door was shorting the entire BCM). They changed out the antenna and the BCM) and since then, everything is working perfectly.
Have your service center check the antenna position when you send the car in.

Also remember to send BOTH keys. Changing the BCM needs both keys to be paired with the car again. It will save you a trip to the service center to get the second key validated.

The strange thing was that just the self presenting function was busted. I could still open and close the door via the screen, as well as with the key. That's how they diagnosed it as the antennae. If you have similar symptoms that's probably your issue too.

Cheers

Did profile switching not work for you, either? Did you have profile-by-fob enabled? I have had an identical experience compared to you (only I haven't had any physical work performed on it yet, so this story has yet to repeat itself) and profile-by-fob doesn't work, in addition to self-presenting doors. Car unlocks and locks just fine. Just can't seem to tell the difference between fobs...

Interesting - my self presenting stopped working this week as well (after the latest software update). It had worked flawlessly for more than a year and just stopped working this week. Guess I need to call the service guys.
Did you double check if auto present got turned off since the update? I know updates sometimes do funny things about turning features on and off randomly.

Antenna replaced (in the parking lot by Ranger). Not the whole problem. Now the related control module will be replaced. Might be a while though. Planning on waiting for the next service center visit.

I don't doubt that all of these problems exist, but it seems nutty to me that an important function of the car is not working and the SC is not able to resolve it. I agree with the suggestion to get a loaner and have them keep your car until the issue is resolved. I personally have found the sc to be very good, so this seems quite odd to me. Perhaps okay during the first few months of the X but certainly not now.

Randomly this morning, and just over a year after owning my Model X, the self-presenting driver's side door has stopped working. Works manually and with the key fob, but no longer automatically opens when you walk up and approach the vehicle. Have an appointment with my local SC this Saturday.

Smh

We've had the same issue as the original poster since day one, (10 months ago now...) self-presenting doors don't present. Interestingly, auto profile switching worked for a day or two (once it arrived via OTA update) but it too has stopped working.

Just another thing on my "list" to get done if I ever have a bigger issue that needs fixing, but I'd probably just turn self-presenting off once it starts working! Auto profile would be nice though...
