While it won't be cheap to use the Model X to serve long-distance commuters, the low cost of "fuel" should help. I think this company (Green Commuter - Be Part of Something Big) is counting on serving commuters who may be willing to pay a premium to ride in a Tesla. At least it will be possible to spread costs over six or seven commuters per vehicle, something that's not possible with any other BEV!
I think if I had to ride in a vanpool every day, I'd be strongly inclined to go with this company. On the other hand, in not too many years, they will likely find themselves competing with the Tesla network of autonomous vehicles, possibly not the smartest business decision.
