I wanted to ask if anyone knows of this issue.
My friend planned to drive his 2020 Model X , from San Luis Obispo to Stockton, CA...; a maybe 5 hour drive. ITs a heat wave in California, temps in 100s. So He has tobring stuff to drop off , so the vehicle is full. They got to this small way station called Kettlemen City, and parked it to supercharge ( new ones, not the one with service center)....Its 6pm now... But after the car is charged to 90%, the lights flash, warning bells go off........and warns there is no charge....and if not charged, car will not function. He checks the battery, tries to start, checks charge port,etc... NO go. Now the car is dead.
So a call to Tesla service center, and a repair tech is sent out from Fresno, about a 90 min drive away. Meanwhile, its 12 midnite , The technician tried to jump the 12 volt battery..... yes.........but quickly drained . Then Tried to change out the battery.......yes.....but it too is quickly drained. Now..... after numerous attempts... its decided that the vehicle must be towed to dealership / service center in Fresno...
So a call is placed and friends' brother in Los Angeles drives 3 hrs up ......picks up the family at 3;30 am....then drive them all the way back to San Luis Obispo.... its 6;30 am now. They sleep....then They change to a regular vehicle, and drive 5 plus houss up to Stockton.
Vehicle has 49.000 miles.
Did this ever happen to anyone ? Did anyone read about this issue ? WHat can cause the 12 volt small battery to quick drain, and completely immobilize the Model X ?
Any help , advice, suggestions, or insights ? Thanks
