It says that is 8/12amp.

So a friend who has a late July order but EDD is late October needs to buy a UMC for charging and has been waiting for them to come back in stock. They rang Tesla to see what the go is with the description saying 8/12amps and asked if it's the normal version that can be upgraded with software to 10/15amps and the person they spoke to said "no, these aren't the ones we normally sell and can't be software updated"

1. do you think the Tesla person was correct? They have been known to just say random stuff before
2. would you buy it and hope it can be updated?
3. where is this UMC from? Maybe old Aus stock from ages ago? Did they used to come in 8/12 in Australia?
4. would you still buy it if you knew that it was only 8/12amps and could trick charge 20% slower
They did used to sell 8/12 UMCs in Australia. That's what the Model 3s delivered here before about April 2021 came with. Even the newer delivered units that have come with the cars here came set up for 8/12 as delivered but get updated by the car to 10/15.

Note that in all these cases the UMC is identical. This version of the UMC (the one with interchangeable tails) is and always has been capable of 32A. I have confirmed that the UMC that came with the 2019 Model 3 can do 10/15A if used with the newer tails that came with the late 2021 vehicles - it's the tails (and the firmware update) that makes the difference.

Obviously we won't know until someone orders one and receives it, but I'm sceptical that the ones they have in stock are any different at least for the UMC component. Perhaps they found some old 8/12 limited tails somewhere - but I'm doubtful.

It's been ordered by my friend so we'll be able to see what it actually is. Hopefully will arrive this week and we'll see what the labels are
Good to know the the UMC should still be fine to put the 32amp tail on it. Thanks!

Tessories sell them too

Tessories sell them too

Yup I saw those, but I just love the look of the AEROPI ones

Tessories sell them too

Cheaper than Aliexpress plus postage!

The Turbine Wheel covers have already saved the alloys once from gutter rash.

Anyone had any experience with these?

They look amazing but can't find any english reviews.
Same boat here. I was looking for a review and landed on your post. I am in the United States and I really like the look too. I’ll probably get them as I tend to trust Korean made products. There is one youtube video reviewing one of these.

To follow up on this my friend did order the UMC from the Tesla web shop that said 8/12amp tails and it arrived yesterday. It appears it might be a bit of a pot luck system as she did get plugs which say 10 and 15 amp but I do recall someone on FB did get ones labeled 8/12 so maybe it's a bit of a pot luck? Tesla did end up saying in writing to her after she ordered that they were limited ones. Go figure
It did come with the funny old S/X adaptor thing.
End result is that I am pretty sure it's the one which will be updatable to 10/15amp once it gets used but can't test that until her car arrives in a few weeks. So that is positive news for her that she will get that extra 20% when charging.

I ordered these and they were delivered today.

Everything looks as expected and the quality seems good, so they seem trustworthy.

I don't have the car yet to try them on or test them so these pics will have to do for now.
