Wiki Model Accessories Mega List / Cheat Sheet

I have compiled a list of all the Model Y accessories that I find useful, to possibly save other members the hours of research I’ve done, and lessons learnt from accessories that either did or didn’t work well on my M3.

I haven’t included items that I think are pointless, such as the screen protector, which is not necessary for protection on a screen that can’t be dropped, and not necessary for cleaning as the screen is very easy to clean with a dry microfibre cloth, and also not necessary for preventing reflections as I’ve had no issues with reflections at all.

If anyone has any suggestions for decent accessories then please share them, if I buy any of them I’ll add them to the list.

1. Tesla key fob: Model 3/Y Key Fob - Makes opening frunk and unlocking charge port much more convenient, also acts as a keycard even if fob battery runs out, meaning you don’t need to carry a keycard.

7. Jack pads: Jack Pads for Tesla – Tessories - Essential if you have a jack without a large rubber saddle.

I got my Y in late May 2022, and started to install some simple accessories.

Blue LED Lights from Aliexpress : 8 lights for $35. Lights are nice and I will now leave the interior ambient light on while driving. Shows well in underground garage type lighting and darker. Obviously during daylight, the door puddle lights are not visible at all. Passenger side ambient light was extremely difficult to remove.

Amazon Haocess Carbon Fiber Center Console Sticker PLATE for $16. Cup holder plate clicked in and fits perfectly even without using the tape on the underside. Sliding center console door is not very thick and will not retract on its own. But quality and finish is very nice and I usually have acidic McD's coffee spilling and my garage remote + keys scratching up my M3's console so with the carbon fiber plate, my Y is well protected.

I bought a lot more accessories but haven't had time to install them yet. Will post after I install them.

Huh sorry I should have been clearer. Works a treat in M3, not MY. Might work in LHD versions but not RHD. Not enough clearance around the USB socket.

Would be fine on a short drop cable and functional, but not as neat as the advert claimed.

Thanks for reply. Got a model y so I’ll give it a miss. Thinking of the tparts module but worried the harness is not there as some in the US are finding out.

Just fitted the T parts module tonight to my new MY. It was about £65 delivered from AliE.

Data cable is present and correct - only difference to the videos is it is taped with some really strong fabric type tape. Due to the limited access it took some time to remove. YMMV. This was the hardest part of the process.

Here’s the video I followed and is accurate (apart from the sticky tape!).

Eight years in Teslas now. I found that the leather key covers are the only ones worth getting, the silicone is a lint
magnet and sticks to the pant pockets, making it hard to pull out. Don't worry about the model, the MS/X covers
will fit the new 3/Y keys very well.

Just fitted the T parts module tonight to my new MY. It was about £65 delivered from AliE.

Data cable is present and correct - only difference to the videos is it is taped with some really strong fabric type tape. Due to the limited access it took some time to remove. YMMV. This was the hardest part of the process.

Here’s the video I followed and is accurate (apart from the sticky tape!).

Metal pedals and the new USB unit arrived today. It was some hassle getting that fabric tape off! And then I spent ages trying to bend the cable the right direction before realising I was trying to put it in upside down. But it's in now! And that's all that matters. Now... what can I do with it.

I have an old PS4 controller, any good?

Haha - yes - it’s hard to convey how difficult it was!

Now you should be able to play music off a usb drive (or have a custom light show subject to folder creation etc) or plug in a game controller.

Must admit, I haven’t got as far as researching the controllers yet. But the car just installed 2022.28.2 which puts the games (sonic / cuphead) back, so may look into it.

I plugged in the USB drive and actually couldn’t find where to access the music stored on it. Had a bit of a play with file system formatting and still no luck. Will give it another go tomorrow and see whether I can get any joy. Not fully convinced the new USB module is working as have very little to test it with…

With our 2019 M3P, I bought some cheaper ones from AliExpress. I found when the front and rear doors were opened at the same time on the same side of the car that the puddle lights dimmed dramatically. I contacted Abstract Ocean before buying a set from them. They said this happens to a small degree with all of them but that they chose puddle lights that have a minimum of this effect. I can confirm that the problem is sorted when using the Abstract Ocean ones (and if they dim at all it is imperceptible to me). So I also recommend the AO ones. If I end up installing them in the Model Y I will be going AO.

I'd like a way for the door handles to be illuminated they're awkward to find on the dark nights with a dark grey car coupled with the design of the handles. Previous cars had lights in them or at least under the mirrors to help

Hi, I have a UK MYLR Sept 2022, got the data module fitted. But I cannot find the data port to plug the mini usb extension cable into to add data. All I see is a big plastic housing in RHS footwell/wing with a lot of connectors plugged into it but cannot see any usb data port…

At some point between Q2 & Q3 they stopped running the data cable from under the glovebox to the data module. You can run it yourself by following this video:

If you install any new footwell lights you can do it at the same time (as you remove the trim in the footwell).

Hi update… I found the data port which is under the glovebox as in preceding video by Peter…

Now I cannot see usb in tesla main display. Usb flash drive flashes when reading data but again no sign of usb drive as in vids…
Checked data module via a mini usb to usb c & ipad pro and flash drive shows up in files app. Anyone had similar issue

So my all-weather mats from aliexpress turned up today. Is anyone else of the opinion that they're a bit... crap? I expected the fit and quality to be loads better. I've had to force some of the mats down in places and it doesn't look to be a great fit. I also don't know what the rear liner is for as it doesn't seem to fit in any of the spaces available...
