First post here, I tried searching through the forums, but couldn't find anything. Sorry if this has been answered.

OK, First off, Canadian here so pricing is in CAD. I pre-ordered a Model Y last year in March. I chose the Performance, 7 seats, grey, with FSD.

After literally months and months of thinking and discussing with the wife, as well as looking at the Model X with three rows, we decided that the 7 seater was NOT for us, and I wanted to remove the option.

Contacted the Local Tesla showroom to ask if they could remove the option, First they said yes, then they said no, I had to modify the order myself, he highlighted I just had to click the Edit button. Cool, easy to do.

Removed the 7 seater option, and find out the price isn't what I was expecting. Its $1300 higher than it should be.

I asked the Rep if he could look into it, and he said yes, no problem he will look into it this was Jan 30th.

February 7th he came back to me and said he found out that “Customer is subject to latest pricing if they edited the design via their Tesla account.”

Obviously, I was not happy about this! I have tried a number or things to get this rectified and get the old pricing. But I keep getting told that the new pricing applies.

Has anyone run into this, and had any luck? I am not happy that I reached out to Tesla to get them to change the order, they said I had to do it, but at no point in time warned me that FSD price would increase.

Does anyone have any recommendations of what I should do? And yes, I tried twitter :)

Yes, any change of options online would subject to the new pricing. The new pricing should reflect on your screen before actual confirmation. Have you tried to talk to Fremont Delivery Center (510) 897-4860? They are much more helpful than other places. Otherwise wait until you take actual delivery when you are assigned with the new SA.

Thank you for the advice! I will call the Fremont Delivery Center and talk to them.

UPDATE!

Got off the phone with Fremont. Long story short, yes subject to new pricing, HOWEVER due to being a reservation holder they MIGHT be able to help me out. That would be awesome.

However, apparently because the Model Y is not "released" yet, no one has access to anything for a while yet.

SO, I was instructed to wait until I receive my confirmation email, and then to escalate it at that point!

Fingers Crossed!

The order agreement clearly says that if you make any changes the pricing will change to the then current prices. (Which you should have been able to see before you clicked the button to save your changes.)

To be honest I didn't read that part so that's my bad, or if I did, I must have ignored it assuming that I already had the price "locked in" due to already having selected the option. Prior to changing the design, I did ask the service adviser to change it for me because I noticed the pricing was weird. Long story short (emails/phone calls) He said he would take care of it after the change because he couldn't change the design for me.

I understand if I had NEVER chosen FSD and wanted to ADD it after the price increase... yes of course.. new pricing. BUT I already had the FSD as part of my original design.

I am a plumber, and the equivalent would be if I gave a quote for a shower with hand sprayer, a toilet and a sink. My customer agreed to the pricing, but later decided to remove the hand sprayer. I would credit them the handsprayer but hold pricing on everything else not increase the price of the toilet because they "changed the bathroom design". Now if they never wanted the toilet in the first place and decided to add it... well then... current toilet price!

Not if the quote for a shower with a hand sprayer was built that way, and you needed to reorder one spec'd without the built in hand shower. Also would not like it if you had already ordered and paid for the combination shower/hand held unit.

Changes cause expenses within Tesla. Their policy is that if you change your configuration, you need to pay the price of the new configuration on the date of new order.

We ordered a Model Y on day 1, then later the price of our configuration went down. My order had the original higher price until I 'updated' it, changing nothing, then saving it. The price dropped by $1000 or so. Updating and Saving your configuration takes current pricing into account.

Its a bit more like someone asked you for a quote for replacing all the sink faucets in their house, then asked for an itemized quote, and then decided that instead of the 4 sinks you quoted they only wanted to do 1, but wanted the price you gave for 4. Not quite apples to apples, and I am not a contractor, but I suspect when you price jobs you also look at the volume of work at a specific location, and price accordingly.

THAT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! lol, but I get what you are talking about. Get a quote for bulk discount, want one item but at bulk prices.

I think a more appropriate analogy would be if you were quoted for a bathroom reno and now you wanted to go from a double sink to a single sink but they are charging you $1000 more because the shower price increased even though you made no changes to the shower from the original quote.

Good luck. In my experience this is Tesla speak for “get this guy off the phone”.

You’ll call back at some future date, reiterate what you were told verbally by someone else some time ago, and they will treat you like you’re asking to land a spaceship at the factory to pick up Elon and bring him back home.

I'm on the same boat. I had the original 19" sports wheels and were changed to gemini wheels without my approval. Didn't want that and was told for local sales I'd have to change to inductions wheels myself. Well did that and my price went up by $1490. I'm ok paying the $500 for the wheel but the base price of $990 is unacceptable. My delivery specialist is working on this and that's why I haven't inputted my payment method. She said she's working on it but Im waiting for the price adjustment b4 proceeding further. If they don't do anything about it, it will leave a bad taste in my mouth and will probably not continue with my order because of the principle.
