It's more like union-paid-for politicians giving people $4500 to incentivize them to buy inferior cars that no one wants. And with all the Bolts spontaneously combusting, can you blame people for saying "no thanks?"

Keeping it real, we should note that one reason Tesla can build cars in the US is because, in part, their cheapest car starts at $48K. Most of their cars purchased are high $50K to mid $60K.
If Tesla can keep it up and sell a car under $40K, that will be something.
