Awesome. One part is a bit confusing - in the video he says app needs to be open. Does it mean if I am within bluetooth range anyone can open it? What's with app open in general.. Is there a special state of authorization for the car if app is open and screen is locked?

Even your phone is locked as long as your Tesla app is open and the phone is in your possession, the sensor should work.

It will work just as the same when you are unlocking your car with the door handle.

It works exactly the same when you unlocked your car with your phone on you. In other words, even your phone is locked, as long as your Tesla app is open, the sensor should work.

Will having a tow hitch installed effect the function of the foot sensor?

I doubt it, but if it does, just relocate the sensor. The hardest part of the install is fishing the wire to the rubber boot. Took me 2 hours to install.

install is too tedious... I can see the SC flipping out with a warrantee repair also.

yes just the chore of taking it out -- anyway looks good - good functionality Tesla should have engineered in the car..

does the sensor trigger during driving? in this video, the frunk foot sensor opens the frunk during low speed driving

Tesla cars automatically goes to locked position when you’re driving. The sensor will not trigger as long as the car is in locked mode. I believed when they did the frunk review on low speed, the sensor triggered because the auto locked did not endgames because if very low speed.

I currently just scream out loud "SIRI OPEN THE TRUNK" hoping one of my apple devices will actually work. And then it doesn't, and then I get mad and start yelling at siri, then suddenly I'm on a phone call with a random person in my contacts list.
