Model Y Hardware 4

I’ve had a good search around but I can’t find an answer to whether or not Model Y in the UK is currently being provided with Hardware 4.

I’d be interested in ordering one in the next couple of weeks and I’ve seen some X ‘tweets’ that this is the case but I’d be interested if anyone here has actually had one delivered in the last couple of months.

I believe China production changed to HW4 at the beginning of the year but I think Berlin has not changed yet, so it might depend where your car gets made if you order one

I have seen one in Cambridge with quick silver. Didn’t want to go close and check the VIN but could see the HW4 cameras with a reddish reflection (a coating to assist with color rendition in poor lighting conditions), and are larger overall. So, yes it is been delivered.

In that case I’m going to take a look at the Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red cars at the local SC, might give me a better idea. Thanks

I picked up a Shanghai HW4 quicksilver last month. Many of the other stock MY were still HW3 despite being early 2024 models, so hard to tell when exactly the switch happened.

Similar boat, also the last thing I want is a Model Y with Hardware 3 when 4 is imminent or out in the wild.

There’s no such thing as future proofing but if we ever get FSD then 4 will probably give a longer service life than 3.

This is one of the first of the model Y from Shanghai with HW 4 from Feb 2024 and the VIN is:

LRWYHCEL2RC428905

Any of your VIN after this surely is HW4. This was similar to how they did in US when they replaced hw 3 with hw4.

The side repeater cameras on front wings are a slightly different shape, if you do a Google image search of HW3 v HW4 you can get a comparison

Look at the cameras in the middle of the windscreen - there will appear to be 3, but if the left one as you look at them is blanked off it’s HW4 (as they combined 2 cameras into 1 much higher definition camera). The others should also have a reddish tint with HW4

My Shanghai built Model Y Performance, which I collected at the end of May, is HW4 for what it’s worth.
