Model Y order with referral possible now

I asked last week and was told no. I've asked several times, when I placed my order. When I was notified my car was about to be ready for delivery and last week when talking with my local delivery team. I would keep asking. I have a friend that did help me in deciding to get a Tesla and I would like her to get some credit for that. I will probably press my delivery folks to see what they can do when I pick up the car.

FWIW, when my son bought his M3, he forgot to tell them he had a referral code (some random person on the Internet). Just before he signed for the car, I reminded him and he asked his delivery agent. While they grumbled for 1/2 a second, they ended up adding the referral code at the delivery center before he took possession.

I just fired off an email to my local guy asking to add my MY order to my son's referral code. We will see what happens.

I sent an email to [email protected], requesting they add my friends referral code to my current order. I tried that 2 weeks ago, and they said Model Y isn't eligible, and they will NOT add referrals to existing orders (even though I know people have had that done). Now that Model Y is eligible, I'll see what they say and report back here. If that isn't successful, I'll ask my local delivery person when the time comes.

What is the value of 1,000 Supercharger miles? $50?
  • Battery capacity =75kW
  • Electricity rate = $0.135 per kWh
  • Charging cost = 75 and $0.135 = $10.25 (approximate) for a near empty battery 'fill up
  • You'd need full 3 charges to cover 1000 miles.
  • Net Cost: $10.25*3 = $30.75
  • And they expire in 6 months of no use.
So yes, I am super excited about adding referral code and saving $30.75 would really push me over the edge to order the $60K car.

You guys beat me too it... I was just talking to someone about referral just today... happened to open mine up and was like--- WHA..? MY referrals... WOW... gotta tell the motor group... oh right, you guys knew already..

but that's very cool!!

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with my local delivery agent. Still no VIN/Deliver Date. :-(

But that isnt the update. He told me that they were told that the referral code can only be applied to NEW ORDERS. Old orders are not and will not be updated. He said the only way to get the referral to count is for me to cancel my order and reorder, but that would put me at the end of the line. Being that I think I am close to getting the call, I elected not to do that. My son and I are just out of luck for a $50/e benefit.

I imagine it will only delay the order a month or two given the amount of cars that are coming off the line and the number of cancellations?

Being able to add your sponsor should be allowed. It is far more than just the supercharging. Tesla also does drawing for free cars and such. It is a way of also thanking those that help you. It also gives Tesla a way to track how their non-advertising program is working and what adjustments they should make.

I contact my delivery specialist (taking delivery on Friday) and asked her to apply my own referral code (I own a Model 3) and she did without any issues and it shows on my account now. I can tell you when I took delivery of the Model 3 last May it took about 3 months before the miles actually showed up in my account. Hopefully this time will go quicker.
