Model Y price reduction

Awaiting delivery info and I have a VIN#..Mine still shows higher price. I emailed advisor and Tesla yesterday. Got no answer so I went to local Tesla store and advisor there said it can't be fixed as simply as a pending order since I've got a VIN. Got same answer as Boeing747, she raised a case and said it might take a day or so. A bit aggravating that it's just not automatic and the announcement should have included how existing orders would be handled. However, the small amount of stress is a great tradeoff for a 3K savings. More money for Mods :)

If anyone has been able go reach their delivery advisor and had the price decrease put on their order, can you please let us know? We are getting conflicting feedback. Thanks////

I am scheduled to take delivery this Wednesday (7/15) in Columbus OH. My delivery advisor reached out to me this morning about the price change and asked if I wanted to have him update the price (he said the question was a formality). Within an hour, price change was reflected on my account.

Now, let’s hope delivery goes just as smooth...

I wasn't able to edit my order (placed Friday 7/10; AWD LR w/ 19" Gemini Wheels, Metallic Paint, and FSD) online, so I called my local sales and service center this afternoon (12:15ish). They "took out a case number" for me (I think that's the language he used), requesting on my behalf a price adjustment.

Just checked it tonight (10:30ish EST), and sure enough, my price is down $3,000... ask and ye shall receive, folks!! Didn't have to cancel my order, eat the $100 non-refundable, and "move back in line" (if only 72 hours)... pretty quick and painless.

Hope this info helps someone else. We placed an order last week:
  • Performance
  • No PUP
  • Induction wheels
  • Hitch
  • Blue
  • FSD
I asked the DC about getting the $1k difference. They said no and I could either keep as is or reorder.

Keeping our order as is since it’s a bit of a unicorn now.
Careful they will likely bring back your unicorn in the future just as they did with the model 3 stealth several times. If it was me, I'd just reorder, can always change the wheels later.

Got the $2k price difference refunded. It is not automatic because you "need to accept the price change in writing" according to my delivery specialist. If you have the email address of your delivery specialist just send an email with the old and new price and request they adjust the price and refund the difference (if you have already paid). Was actually quite painless.. Now to see how long it takes for them to process the refund.

Should note I have not taken delivery yet. 18 days since paying and counting. This is one small benefit to the delivery delay.

Could someone clear this up for me. If you ordered a MY AWD Long Range with FSD. Can you keep the $7K FSD. While getting the new $3k price reduction?

yes, so long as you don’t cancel and start over. That’s what I got. Locked in the $7K FSD as I ordered June 26. Got the reduction from Tesla after using the chat on their site.

Well, I have $6k FSD and chat said any changes would update everything. Because of my 2019 cheaper pricing, total savings would only be $10 for me with everything updated, but I’d like to add tow hitch if it’s a $990 net increase. Of course I’d really like to keep my FSD price but it sounds too good to be true. I also have the 7 seat option which may be a factor and is part of the reason I’m still waiting despite having a day 1 reservation.

I was given an advisor’s email contact but so far no response (no surprise!)

Same - we reserved back on launch day and had the FSD for $6K and a slightly cheaper base/tire price locked in - we were told by both chat and the GA sales manager that in this case the $3k savings on the base price would increase overall cost by $490 because all component prices would increase to current rates. Anybody in a similar situation that was still able to take advantage of the price decrease?

Sorry, meant to quote you on the above reply.

no problem. Too bad they aren’t being more consistent with updating pricing but I guess there’s nothing that says they have to be, and we are all in slightly different pricing situations.

I’m just glad I’ll probably be able to add towing without other additional cost. I would just cancel and reorder (with a much lower deposit) but with the 7 seat option that isn’t currently possible.

Mine is now showing the updated price with the $3k reduction. they took just 1 day to adjust..hopefully yours should be done fast too

I asked my local delivery agent (I pickup tomorrow) yesterday and had to reply to a text message that agreed to the new pricing. After that it was about two hours before they sent me another text saying it was done. I forgot about it until this morning and looked at my portal and the $2k discount is reflected on my account.

Is Tesla going to send an update for the Performance Y range increase from 280 to 291 miles? I picked mine up in mid-June so no chance for a price decrease for me. More excited about the range increase anyway. Wish they could have gotten 300. Thats my magic number, but...

I requested a price change for mine (its a Stealth P) via Chat yesterday, and was told that request was put in, and should be applied within 48 hours. It hasn't yet, and based on what others have said, Tesla is refusing to change price of Stealth ... so we'll see ...

I reached out to Tesla financing via email last night since they approved my loan yesterday. They sent an email today (Jul 14th) to my Tesla Advisor in Warwick, RI and they cc'd me on the email. I hadn't received an email reply or phone call today, so I called Tesla in Warwick, RI but the phone call was forward to another Tesla office. I gave the Tesla rep the name of my advisor in RI and she said he's on vacation this week. I asked if I could receive the $1,000 reduction on my Red Model Y Performance with PUP - she said she would contact the office that would handle that and hope to hear from them sometime today or at least this week. I received a VIN on July 11th and my delivery has been setup for July 25th 2020. My Tesla loan has been approved but I have yet to accept it's terms. IMO, I think people that have yet to accept delivery, those price reductions should be automatic.

I dont disagree, but understand why they dont do it that way. In order to get the discount, you have to agree to the current price. In my case the $3k discount was really only worth $2k, as I had ordered FSD for $7k at the time of the order. In order to get the discount, I had to agree to the FSD price increase to $8k and accept that charge. While I would have loved to have my cake and eat it too, I get that I shouldnt get to keep FSD at $7k and get the car for $3k off as well.

My question too!
Still waiting to hear what's happening to LR RWD orders.
I feel like this how theyre going to get rid of them. I can get AWD for $1000 more if I edit order (I think that's right).

@HAWX12 : Elon tweeted about discontinuing SR Model Y and offering Single Motor LR model soon.
"We have reduced pricing on Model Y [long range] dual motor [and] will offer a LR single motor Y in a few months, which improves affordability, while still keeping the product excellent"
Btw, I'm also in 2 minds about whether to keep the existing single motor LR reservation or go for DM AWD LR, which is just $1990 more.
