Model Y rear hatch easily damaged because it extends out to the end of the bumper?

Looking at the back of a Model Y, it looks like the rear hatch extends down to look like it becomes part of the bumper, rather than being recessed from the bumper like the rear hatch or trunk on most (but not all) other cars and SUVs. This means that a minor rear end crash that would ordinarily damage only the bumper (or not damage anything but possibly the paint on the bumper if at low enough speed) would strike the bottom of the rear hatch with greater chance of damage, since the rear hatch is not designed to absorb impacts like the bumper is. Backing into something has the same increased potential for damage, although the rear camera should allow avoiding backing into most things.

How much of a problem is this in real life?
