Just received a text from Tesla. I ordered a RWD / White / 19-inch wheels. Could this be true? Hope so. :)

I didn't get that text, but I did just today get my first ever contact from a delivery specialist at Tesla Dublin introducing himself and asking if I had any questions.

My first question of course was - when will you start delivery on the RWD model...no response back yet.... :D

I just received the same update for my AWD model Y, order placed the second week of July with an initial 4-8 week delivery timeline. It appears the current estimate is 6-9 weeks from order.

I wonder if these texts went out due to a shutdown (for retooling) at the factory: they didn't get mine produced before the shutdown so are sending the update.

(regarding the retooling: the Fremont website has some info on the permit. It appears that they are applying for revisions, and still owe some money for their "Peer review" on the GA 4.5 project. I don't think we can, without a FOIA request, look at the plans for the revisions. However they don't appear to be major because the permit fees for the revisions are small)

Either you are really getting a production line trial model or they mistaken you for an AWD. There has been a few posts of people with RWD orders had that happen.

I received a text today with a 3-5 weeks delivery estimate. My Y is Performance (ordered June 25), but if it's due to factory shutdown and re-open, that makes sense.
Good luck on your RWD orderers!

Just received a follow-up text.

Tesla Update - Our apologies, the previous text sent yesterday about your Model Y Long Range Rear Wheel Drive order was sent in error. Please disregard the timing previously provided, we do not have a timing estimate for Model Y Long Range Rear Wheel Drive vehicles at this time.

Now back to the joylessness of COVID-19

I got the same text today for a MYP ordered in May 2019. I'm starting to think this might have just been some generic text blast with no bearing on reality.

Hmm that's funny. I ordered my RWD in Jan 2020 and received this text today:

Of course I didn't receive any other text but I read it as they are "trying".
