Hi, what level tint have you done with your front windows and back windows? I’m debating how dark I should go with my tint, 20 vs 35%, and with the back windows already dyed black by Tesla, 25%, I’m wondering how much darker I should tint them vs something like 70% for UV and heat protection. Thanks
In my opinion, you should go with 35% in the front and no darker. It will look nice with black interior. Keep in mind that if you have white interior, the 35% will look lighter from the outside looking in to the vehicle. Reason I say go with the 35% is that it can be hard to see out the windows at night on roads that do not have much street lights. In my current car that has 35% tints, the only time I have trouble seeing out of them is when I am on a dark road, looking for a street to turn left on. I sometimes have to roll the window down. In terms of 70% vs 35%, the 70% tint will not be much noticeable. I generally tint my front windows at 35% to try to have a more uniform look between my front and back windows.
I did 50% on the front (legal limit) and 20% on top of the factory tint in the back. If I could do it over I would have done 5% like I have in the past.
I did 25% for the 2 front windows. They match the back perfectly. I might do 70% for the 2 back and the rear windshield in the future, but we'll see.
I had 35% Suntek CXP done to the front windows. I debated doing it darker to match the rears but the installer talked me out of it given tint laws and such. Looking back at it, I would've done it a darker shade to match...
Did the side and rears Llumar IRX at 15% front 50% rear. The windshield is 70% Suntek for IR reduction. The roof lets in so much light that I've yet to have any issues with visibility, even at night.
Hi there, I'm from Ukraine, From Tesla Club Ukraine. Guys, who have a cool photos Model Y? Do you have possible to send me photo on email? Unfortunately in EU, doesn't have still Model Y.
I have Spectra Photosync 30 up front and 70 in the rear. The rear is very dark stock, like 15-20% I think. I don't want to risk that dark up front though.
For those of you who did do the tint, did you spend any time with the Y in the warmer temperatures prior to the install? Did you find a noticeable difference when you had it done if you used a heat-blocking tint? I ask because when I had my S done it was a night and day difference (Spectra Photosync), but I'm looking at the tinted glass on the Y and wondering if it does any heat blocking. I'm wondering which windows would need it. Also, for those who had the windshield done, any issues with getting it done? The installer I had do mine now refuses to do it because of liability concerns after another installer had some water seep behind the dash of a Model 3 and caused some serious damage which wouldn't be covered by warranty. Was there anything even mentioned prior to getting the tint done? THX!
Has anyone done Sectra Photosync IDR? I had it installed and have noticed mainly in the fronts where I did 30% (back was all 70%) it has a strong bluish tint and especially in direct sun light is super hazy. It does seem to be rejecting heat pretty well granted. Just never had a car with so much blue hue to it and so much haze, almost looks like fog. When its not in direct sun light the haze mostly goes away.. but still not what I expected.
Yes, under direct sunlight there's a strong haze. It's more than I expected as well, but for the most part it's livable. Makes me want to clean it. Under all other circumstances it's as you describe it - with a blue haze.
Look out from the inside with a sample over your glass, so you can see the difference, since you already have sample picture of tinted Y from outside. My mobile tint guy did that. I picked 30% front side windows, 70% windshield, and 20% under stock roof glass tint. I did not tint the hatch and rear side windows. Came out pretty good match. The shade by the 20% under the roof glass is good (just right amount of light but plenty shade to keep midday sun out).
Has anyone done 20% on the front windows? My installer has 20% and 35% only. Can’t decide. I’d like it to match the factory back window as close as possible.
I did 35% in the front. If I can wind back the clock, 20%(18% with Suntek CXP) for clearly aesthetics and to match the rears. However, i do live in CA where tint laws are notorious.
