Model Y windshield issue

I tried buffing out some micro scratches on my windshield yesterday and noticed this giant spot while it rained here in LA. I tried using a glass cleaner solution but it didn't work. Did I just ruin my windshield or is there any way to save it? Help please!

Was the car ceramic coated? Looks like you rubbed off a coating that causes water to bead.

Not sure if it is. I haven't done anything to the windshield since taking delivery of my model Y in August.

Don't forget to clean the inside of the windshield on a new car, I noticed a lot of dust accumulated may be during the storage of the windshilds before installation.

Also the robot, used to manipulate the windshiled, left 4 big dusty and oilycsquares which are very noticeable when using the defroster.

I have one of those circular areas on my rear window ….. only visible at night. Thanks for the idea @Watts_Up! Thinking I’ll do a real thorough inside clean and see if that does it. I’ve done outside a couple of times and been puzzled to see it again.

That is clearly on the outside since it is affecting the surface tension of the rain water on the OUTSIDE of the windshield. I'd suggest cleaning the entire windshield with denatured alcohol and then applying a nice ceramic glass coating.

The windshield is moved, installed into the vehicle using a robotic arm. There is some type of release compound on the suction cups of the robotic arm that leaves a residue on the glass. I have been unable to remove this contaminant from my windshield. Not wanting to risk damaging the glass with anything that is abrasive I have been hoping that with repeated washing, over time, the suction cup marks would fade but after 18 months they are still visible under some conditions.

If that is the case, where are the marks from the other suction cups? Also, the far corner is not a structurally sound are to lift a windshield. Most robots i've seen grab it near the center with 3 or more suction cups.

I only drive the thing. FWIW the suction cup marks on the driver's side of my windshield match the upper suction cups in the photo.

I've successfully used Barkeeper's Friend on windshields in the past without any issues. Make a paste with a water soaked sponge. Scrub the whole windshield down in small sections. Flush with lots of water. Removes everything off the surface of the glass.
