Model Y windshield replacement in BC

My windshield got hit and it now has a large horizontal crack to limits shown (pic)

I put in a service request from the phone app to replace the glass and have been provided with an appointment in Surrey (4 hours drive away) - however, they have not contacted me yet for what is now 5 days after making the appt, to follow up with an estimate (or confirm they have stock). I am obviously anxious to contact ICBC with the details to ensure they will cover this repair, and I'd like to know the length of time they will need the car for.

Has anyone here had their windshield replaced on a Model Y in BC? Just wondering if it would be better to contact a local specialist glass shop, rather than wait for the service centre to respond and have the imposition of me driving it all the way to Surrey. Also, how long is needed for a windshield replacement, so I can plan the time needed for such a trip?

Thanks in advance

I am currently going through the same thing. Just picked up my Model Y in Calgary (also live in BC) got a rock chip within 1/2 hour of leaving the city! Chip has now spread into a horizontal crack. Checked with a local glass shop and was informed the windshield would need to be replaced by Tesla (or an authorized contractor). I’ve put in a service request, also with Surrey SC because I’ll be there for a few days in Sept but have not heard back. I sent a message asking about using a local glass contractor. Will let you know if/when I hear something. Nothing like driving around in your brand new car with a big a*# crack :(

DANG ! Sorry to hear that. Better the glass than a chip the bodywork I guess if yours is new. Tesla finally got back to me and has quoted ~CA$1,500 for a new windshield. I have discovered that Prestige Collision here in Kelowna are licensed with both ICBC and Tesla to fix same, so I will be taking it there and will cancel the visit to the SC in Surrey. The down side is that the repair will have to wait 4-6 weeks while they order the necessary parts and I my deductible is $500. The SC said they could do it in a week's time.
