Very disappointing response. Does not address the concerns raised by wk057 in this thread, and gives credence to the fact that he is a victim, not just playing one. I hope he can find a platform where he can continue contributing to the Tesla and EV community.
There are countless trolls all over this site that contribute nothing while clogging threads with endless and pointless argument, abusive comments, and the like. It's insane perplexing that you'd ban someone with WK's level of in depth technical knowledge that he shares freely.
I want to express my support for restoring wk07 posting privileges. For nearly eight years, i have found his technical insights extremely valuable and helpful in my Model S ownership.
@doug & mods how can You ban such a valuable member and allow constant agitators like @Chaserr to spill their garbage for months unaffected?? Something is completeley upside down here. You´re shooting the messenger.
This is ridiculous. I’ve participated in, moderated, and owned highly active automotive forums for nearly 20 years now and this sort of cloak and dagger opacity and disengagement by senior staff is a joke. Some bigger conflict of interest is obviously playing out here, and the community is unquestionably the entity that suffers. That’s a damn shame. Either outright ban the dude or let him post. Moderation purgatory is a sugary move.
Hey all, just came across this thread, and explains why such reduced input from @wk057 in requests to pull him into threads. I’ve loved this community for a long time now, contributed and received great feedback in these forums - to the point of financially contributing to subscription. I know moderation is an oft long and thankless task with inability to describe context of decisions. I believe having clear expectations of forum rules, etiquette and consequences transparently enforced, as suggested, is a good improvement. Jason can be polarizing with his word choices occasionally, though has both a much higher signal to noise ratio than many and his data is often gaslighted by those with solely opine in a very purposeful way. I can understand why frustrations run high sometimes, though it may help reset perspectives to do a light forensic analysis on his posts and those who report perceived rule infractions. if I can help volunteer in some way to get this forum back to high quality conversations, don’t hesitate to PM me. thanks, Mike
There is lots of misinformation and FUD in the "Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software" thread and some people there who rightly deserve the label of "troll". Any attempt to correct this misinformation seems to get the post reported. One culprit, in particular, has a nasty habit of twisting people's words into bizarre, illogical conclusions, claiming people said things completely different that what was said/intended ("You said A, then B. Clearly you meant to say B-prime"). Some of my comments were swept up into this insanity when said individual who-shall-not-be-named quite clearly accused me of conspiring to commit a felony in a public forum, which is a clear violation of TMC's TOS against libel. Eventually the whole exchange was swept to Snippiness, but I would have preferred outright deletion. Why that didn't warrant an outright ban is beyond me. I've given up trying to correct the trolls, and just put them on ignore. But the fact that their contributions are valued equally (or, it seems, more) than @wk057's just makes me wonder what happened to this place.
The mods of TMC have repeatedly acted in this way. They are either sociopaths or actually against the clear communication of certain information surrounding Tesla. It's mostly that Audubon guy but the other mods let him get away with whatever so they're equally to blame.
TMC is a Public Forum. 2 things have to work for it serve its purpose. 1) The Public. 2) The Forum. The public needs to remember that as a collective, it contains many individuals each with unique perspective. The only ones that have no useful purpose are those who willfully set out to disrupt the forum. Neither is anyone obliged to participate! The forum needs to make sure that every part of its structure serves its members and members need to embrace that their posts cumulatively are what makes up the forum. IMO it is impossible to post without the risk of 'triggering' someone, usually due to ambiguity or carelessness somewhere along the way. Endless 'disagrees' to every post or passive aggressive 'funny's' don't improve things. The answer must be the 'ignore' button, but then you risk your own 'community' shrinking to an echo chamber of your own views. @wk surely has as much right to engage here on the same basis as anyone else otherwise the forum is denying the choice to ignore him. This should not be a polarizing issue. If you take passion and points-of-view out of the forum, you're left with a very sterile result.
Horrible choice to silence wk057, time to find a new forum . Doug I feel there are other actions at play here or you are really disconnected with the value of some members here
I suspect there may have been some movement towards an agreement since at least some posts seem to be arriving punctually. I think there is a valid point to consider also, that once the forum has provided a platform for members to engage and make their points / arguments, the platform has an obligation to allow those to be defended, exlained or modified over time. Cutting members off really should be a last result and only combined with a public explanation from a moderation board or similar.
