I've been waiting a week for a moderator to approve my post.

My first post took almost a month to be approved.

Why is it taking this long? By the time it gets published it's far from being relevant anymore.

I don't see any pending posts from you (unless they're in a section I don't moderate). In any case, all mods are volunteers. We hop on and do what needs doing when we see it. It's very possible the post got overlooked. A month is rather long though, and I'd PM a mod if it ever comes up again.

It was in the Video section. I submitted my post and I got the message, that the moderator has to approve the post. It's to late now anyway :(

Yes there was a delay in the approval, but it wasn't a month.

If you read my initial post, I've written, that this latest post is already taking a week to be approved and that my first post on this forum took one month to be approved.

As you participate more, the system "trusts" your postings more. This is part of our anti-spammer defenses. It's inconvenient, but having the forum overwhelmed with spam would be much more inconvenient.

I agree, but how can I participate, if posts aren't being published?

Problem is, we as mods don't always notice them. Well, I for example. Sometimes I simply miss that there is a post to be approved and I find out later.

Andy1, it looks like your posts are no longer going through moderation. It should be easy for you to participate now.

Would you explain to me what a Junior Member is?
Why may I not send a message, private post, more often than one per hour?
    thanks
    Michael

If you haven't participated very much there are limits on your account. These restrictions are lifted after you have participated to a certain extent.

This policy is in place to discourage the spammers who create accounts solely to fill the forum with garbage spam posts. In part due to this policy our forum is spam-free, greatly enhancing everyone's enjoyment using it.

    You're welcome.

I too have gotten the "Thank you for posting! Your post will not be visible until a moderator has approved it for posting." message a couple times now. I recognize and appreciate the volunteer nature of moderation here, but the lag time for approval renders the posts useless because the conversation moves on. Is it possible to get whitelisted or know how long this will happen for so that I can avoid posting any links (which seem to trigger that) until then?

Just keep participating. It really doesn't take long until your posts aren't automatically put in moderation.

There's a variety of triggers including certain key words and all subject to occasional change. Sorry for any delays, it's unfortunate but it does keep our forum largely spam free. A little patience and you'll get there.

Understood, thanks. I'll be patient and wait out my whitelisting, and THEN post my Viagra offers.

Thank you for your post @robby. I was thinking about this when I learned that housewives in your area are making $4,700 a month playing poker online.

I think that would hardly be a good idea. I understand the penalties are pretty stiff!
