Modifying Navigation Route

Sometimes I know a better route than the Navigation system posts for me. Is there any way to modify it so I don't have to ignore it until it figures out that I went a different way and catches up? This would be more important to me using Auto Navigate.

When that happens to me I cancel and set a manual destination in between that goes through the road I know. I do that only when I need the directions from the GPS to take a proper turn. Otherwise I simply won't use the navigation since I know where I'm going

Yes, a waypoint would solve that problem but the system doesn't take them.
