Nice to meet several TMCers there tonight.

I also got a test ride in the P85D, with some light slippery snow falling. The thing that impressed me the most (I was in the back seat) is that the TC light NEVER blinked on, even after our driver accelerated again past the "tempo tunnel".

My P85 would get some wiggles and TC with half that acceleration...

Amazing !

Okay I'm totally used to P85 acceleration... but I still had to say "holy crap". It really goes.

Exactly, was about to say the same. It was really a great event, and that store/service center is HUGE!!

Nice touch to have Jerome Guillen and the P85D rides :)

Some quick pics of the special DJ screen. It was a transparent touch screen with a projector on the ground.

A few random shots:

Insane mode, three seconds before being thrown back in our seats:

Also notice the new "Slip Start" button, sounds useful for getting the vehicle unstuck from a snowbank.

Tesla kindly recharged my car so I could get home. As an added advantage it was nice and toasty from being indoors. I got to peak in the back while they were retrieving my car (it's the red one at the back). This building is HUGE; this is just a tiny part of it:

I was able to go last night as well - we managed to make it from Toronto in about 5 hours and arrived just before 10pm. Got my ride in the sweet P85D - holy smoke. Could feel the traction actively working on the slippery surface - the car had it all under control and we got to 100km on that snowy test stretch. The centre looked great - and it was super fun when asked if I was an owner or admirer, to say "Owner - car goes into production this week!" Wahoo! We didn't stay long; just long enough to meet my Delivery Specialist and grab a couple t-shirts. I was happy that this event coincided with a planned Montreal weekend away.

Congrats to Tesla on another great location and a great event! Thanks for the test ride - sweet!

LOL I met my delivery specialist for the first time last night - two years after he helped deliver my car! He's now the manager.

I got my ride much earlier, and the car gripped a lot better - no sign of slippage, which was very impressive under the conditions. Several of us had to wait for our cars to finish charging in order to get home. We noticed the lineup had disappeared towards the end so we decided to walk up and see if they'd take us for another ride. Yep! This time the car definitely was slipping a bit and didn't quite hit the same speed, but it was still wow!!! I guess it was colder and wetter by then.

At the open house Saturday and Sunday, there are two informal technical presentations daily. I incorrectly assumed they would be basic, but they are given by two native Montrealers who are engineers who work on the Model S.

One is head of the motor+drive-train team. This is the chance to ask about the improved motor cooling in the D.

This morning's presentation was by a Montreal mechanical engineer called Nicola who's been working for five years at Tesla and he was the head you mentionned on that new PowerTrain!

As I understood it, the new more powerful front-engine is cooled by oil (instead of coolant, I guess) which allows for better heat dissipation...
but I missed the comment on the back engine, so I'm not sure for that one.

good thing for you we didn't get a chance to give you a list of questions.

If anyone goes today, reads this, and gets a chance to ask questions, could you inquire whether there are still any plans for a "snow mode" allowing limited slip in RWD cars ?

That "slip start" button in the P85Ds looks interesting, but seems to be more to get a stuck vehicle going.
