Motor Trend test: ultra hi perf vs. low rolling resistance tires on Chevy Bolt

Here's an interesting test that Motor Trend magazine did. They compared a Bolt with standard, low friction tires and then swapped out to Ultra High Performance tires. As expected, the handling and braking improved measurably, but the range and efficiency dropped dramatically. They commissioned an independent test lab to confirm and found that range decreases from 244 miles (better than EPA 238) to 178 miles, and efficiency drops from 122 to 89 mpge

Yes, this is a known thing. Dropping from A-class to really bad one, does that.

Though 10% appears to be so much that tire might not even pass G-class requirement in EU, therefore it will not be street legal.

I guess this "surprise" is due to there being no information to consumers about tires people buy in US?
Performance means good, therefore I must take them!
