I personally haven't had any issues of glare, although I've read elsewhere that there is risk of that around sunset time.
As far as the screen being a distraction, it's kinda like having a phone mounted. you choose how distracted you want to be. I'm about 2 months into ownership, and I barely need to use the screen while driving. I can see why car reviewers might think differently since there's some exploration that needs to be done as part of the review.
I have had phone key issues, but lately it's been reliable.
