After running the stock Performance calipers, AP ones, and StopTech ones, I am not sure there is actually a measurable difference between the three (pulls pads away, pushes pads against, does not do either). As with all range-related questions, there's so many variables at play that it is very difficult to say one way or the other without doing testing in an extremely controlled environment or over an extended period of time.

My guess is that it makes near-no difference from stock to StopTech. The pistons will naturally get pushed back to some degree without the need for a spring to help just due to the friction between the pad and rotor upon release. Whatever friction exists between the pad and rotor during extended highway driving is probably minimal.

Hopefully someone else has some better data, though!
