MS Tow Hook attachment

I have a late Model 2018 MS. Wanted to make sure I knew how to attach the tow hook in case I ever had to use it. Took off the little plastic access door on the left front of the car and tried to screw in the tow eye/hook. The receiving hole is too large and has no threads to accept the tow hook supplied. Perhaps the appropriate nut was not welded on the tab or the frame. Has anyone else encountered this? Was this by design and there is a different type of tow hook that should have been supplied or did the factory forget to weld the nut on? How can the MS be towed safely without the tow hook? I wonder if the nut can be welded on post production? Is this a warranty issue?

I believe the tow hook is a left hand thread , some folks only try turning it to the right.
