Mt. Kisco delivery for NH resident

Just want to help others with delivery.....mine was really easy, car is so far ahead of the legacy manufacturers it's not even funny. Here's my experience:

10/12 ordered via iPhone, Apple Pay deposit $2500, will be cash deal
10/24 phone call from someone at Tesla that my car was made and they would organize delivery in MA for 11/19. But I told them, no I'm NH resident, don't want to pay MA tax....then he said, oh you HAVE to do home delivery. He said he would turn me over to a home delivery specialist who would call within a day or two.
10/29 email from Hector in Las Vegas....says he'll organize home delivery. In the course of many phone calls and emails between us, he basically says home delivery is a mess, lots more paperwork, and many delays. I told him I'm okay to pick the car up at Mt. Kisco, he thanks me and says that is way easier. Now I'm SO happy I made that decision. He also confirms that they will pay for a rental car to get me down there.
November.....many emails back and forth with Hector. He gets Thu/Fri off and works weekends. He ultimately answers all emails, just be patient, and don't be afraid to remind him if he doesn't answer.....and he is happy to give me updates about where the car is. It went by rail to Chicago, stayed there extended time, went by trailer to NJ, then trailer to Mt. Kisco.
11/10 email from Tesla that says delivery on 11/20.
11/17 Hector reconfirms delivery at Mt. Kisco on 11/20.
11/18 eta Mt. Kisco changes to 11/21, so we make appointment for 11/23 (black Friday). I tell him I need my rental confirmation to pick up on 11/21. One hour later I get an email from Enterprise with confirmation. I follow instructions for Enterprise, they make the reservation automatically with the Enterprise location nearest my home. Enterprise gives option on web site of home pickup, I do this.
11/21 Hector confirms car is in Mt. Kisco, appointment stays on for 11/23, I ask him how do I finish payment. One hour later, payment request shows up on web site for me. I go ahead and pay in full via ACH.....crazy easy! Okay I decided to take my chances and not wait to inspect car and then pay......pain in the ass. I just paid the damn thing.
11/21 late afternoon, Sara from Mt. Kisco calls my cell to review my paperwork. She's just missing insurance binder and card, I email pdf's....she says everything else is fine. She confirms they are averaging 60 cars per day, but black Friday is only 41 cars. My appointment is for 10am, she says there are 5 people at 9am and 5 people at 10am. I ask what they charge the cars to, she says it's around 160miles.....tell her I need full charge to drive home later that day, so she says she'll put a note in and they will do that.
11/23 arrive at 9:30am, they initiate paperwork review with me at roughly 10:15....takes like 5 minutes, they don't try to sell me anything else.....just keep things moving. I still have rental car, they tell me to follow their Model X to Enterprise to drop off. I literally pull in the Enterprise lot, walk to front desk, they say is this for Tesla? I say yes, they say you're good, nothing to sign and nothing to inspect, just leave. They tell me Tesla will also pay for gas, wish I knew this because I filled it up! They take me to delivery warehouse, only screw up is they didn't fully charge my car,....I told them to do this, took another 90 minutes as their charger was slow. Car was pristine, I can't find one thing wrong with paint, gaps, lights, .....nothing wrong at all.

My VIN is 121xxx, manufacturing date 10/18. No badge on the back.....actually looked at a ton of cars, old and new VINS, some had badges, some had none.....after looking at many, my wife and I both agreed we like the car better without the badge, it's more nasty looking. It's kinda like, let the people guess what's inside, we can blow you off in a drag race! :)

Mt. Kisco consists of the store and two warehouses. You go to the store first, walk in and they immediately have a desk for signing people in for delivery. I got there 30min early, they said there was one person in front of me....not bad. Their lot is small and no room to park my rental car, so they asked me to please park it on the street and they gave me quarters to pay the meter (that was nice!).

The Enterprise location is literally a minute from the delivery warehouse, just up a hill. It's in an office park of some sort. They drive you directly into the warehouse, there are maybe 30 cars in there prepped for delivery. There is another even way larger warehouse nearby, like 20sec around the back......this is where they prep the cars, wax and detail them, then deliver to the delivery warehouse. There 100 to 200 cars in this outside lot ready for prep, with two delivery trailers in the lot!! It's a huge freaking operation. The entire time I was in the delivery warehouse, guys from the prep warehouse were driving cars in to drop off for delivery, like once every 10 minutes.

I'm coming from a '16 TT with all the latest technology from Audi. I can only say, this car makes my Audi look like a freaking donkey cart. The other luxury manufacturers are in deep s__t and I expect they know this. Five minutes of driving the Model 3 made me forget the TT like a divorced spouse.

All I can say for people who are going through delivery hell.....just don't fret, don't get upset, just roll with the punches, it's a roller coaster ride, the end result is perhaps the best car ever produced on this earth.

Nice write up of your personal experience and of how busy they are at that location. We were end of Q3 and I know it was very busy out here at our delivery center for the Tesla delivery and support staff and I know with EOY deliveries things would be the same but haven't heard much about it. Your experience sound like things have improved. Sure it depends on the individuals involved to a big extent but also important to have the workflow at corporate end solidified and efficient. Communications seems to be the biggest issue from what I can judge.

I will say that IMO the car is so worth the bumps along the delivery path way. I feel so grateful to have this car to drive. Enjoy it every day. The dropped deliveries dates we experienced and the time in for due bill work are just faint memories now.

One thing that should not be happening to to-be owners though is finding out at the last minute the car isn't ready to be picked up for whatever reason. It must be challenging to track and handle 50+ deliveries a day and juggle all those cars in various states of delivery and prep and paperwork so I do have some empathy for those employees. Also don't think ICE dealerships deal with this kind of volume per day on a fairly consisent basis, at least from what I remember from a Honda salesman I dated at one point saying about what selling was like. ICE manufacturers generally have many more dealership locations to spread out sales; where as Tesla has a very limited set up right now of delivery centers where all sales are funnel through.

Nice write up!

Nice write-up. I picked up my Model 3 at Mount Kisco in July, before the other lots were open. It was hectic even then.

Question: why did you wait for the level-2 full charge? Superchargers would have been faster.

True that! We had our family holiday at my brothers place 15 min from the Tesla store, so I knew everyone back at the house would be test driving my new wheels all afternoon, and wiping out my charge.....which is exactly what happened! We stopped in Hartford on the way home to supercharge.

Thanks for this. I was originally scheduled for delivery on 11/25 only to be called the night before to delay it. I rescheduled for 12/3 (tomorrow) and now am called with another flimsy-sounding excuse and they have to put it off til Wednesday 12/5. I have had to rearrange work schedules twice at this point. Trying to remain patient.

My advisor Hector was able to confirm the car was at Kisco days before, you should really press them for exact location. If it’s there its a no brainer......though maybe paperwork with CT buyers is more difficult?

That would be nice but no one is returning my emails. No one is answering the phone and the voicemail box is full. Not my idea of a consumer-oriented operation. The paperwork is not that complicated.

Call the direct line to the delivery department (888-771-2505) in Vegas and wait to speak to an agent (may be a long wait). Ask the agent to physically (not via mail) ask Hector to call you back. I did that and my IDA called me in 10 minutes. I may be lucky in getting an accommodating agent on the phone, but it doesn't hurt to try.
