Multiple code bases re FSD vs. non-FSD?

I have a model y with radar. I recently drove an older model 3 with fsd and found autopilot being too aggressive and not as smooth vs my model y (without fsd).

My fear is if I subscribe, I will not like the fsd and then if I unsubscribe, the underlying code base will still make my model y autopilot too aggressive.

Does anyone have any insights as to how Tesla is managing these software configurations?l

There are many variables that can impact how autopilot works, including the firmware version and the autopilot settings. Do you know for a fact that both cars were on the same firmware with the same settings?

However, I don’t think adding FSD and then removing it will make any permanent changes, all else being equal.
