Music from USB—No Playlists?

Until I get around to putting my music on my phone, I've just copied the contents of the iTunes/Music folder on my Mac to a USB drive.

That works fine for playing songs, but there are no playlists or anything, just a list of artists and songs.

Is there a way to implement that?

Once I put the tunes on my phone, will playlists work?

Numerous threads on this. No, no playlist support (contact tesla, bug them about it). Make your own "playlists" by making folders and putting the song files in it that would be in the playlist.

does fat32 support symbolic links? maybe you can avoid copying the files if so.
