Blog Musk Says Cybertruck Updates Coming Soon

Tesla plans to reveal an updated design for the Cybertruck in “a month or so,” Chief Executive Elon Musk said on Twitter.

Tesla has been giving consideration to the Cybertruck’s hulking proportions, which could prevent the wildly-styled, bulletproof, pickup from fitting into the average suburban garage.

So, there’s a chance the truck could shrink slightly all around. Or, maybe not. Musk seems reluctant to change much, but says the new design is better, featuring many minor tweaks.

Tesla has more than half a million reservations for the truck, so it will be interesting to hear reactions from consumers who have already shown intent to purchase the Cybertruck.

Tesla plans to build the vehicle at a new factory in Texas, which is currently under construction. The first examples of the the production Cybertruck are expected to roll off the line late next year.

Will the intended pricing still apply? I'm interested in the rock-bottom price (like I was with the Model Three AND I paid for that with having to wait an EXTRA year!!!).

Will be nice to get some updates on the CT and production timeline. I'm hoping not too much shrinkage to usable space. Ideally we get some pictures/videos of the final production ready interior, including storage spaces and finishes. Not that it will change my desire to get one of these but would be great to see what the final product will look like.

So it's likely to have some sort of side mirrors and different lights (fore and aft). I wouldn't mind if they rounded off a few of the hard edges or made the wheel wells the shape of, you know, the wheels.

I am still hoping that before they ship camera mirrors will be legal thus no mirrors for the truck.

It depends if they build a Y line first or a Cybertruck line first. They are not behind in construction so we could see late 2021 deliveries.

I believe the rough schedule for Giga Austin
that was shared had " dry in" for Dec 30th, with "major completion" in May. The structure looks to be a month or so at least away from dry in so, it seems they might be behind.

Or how about now lol.. GM and Rivian has released more info on their stuff - its intriguing how Tesla is playing suddenly so coy with all its changes and lack of insight into the product. No configurator, no deep dives or early looks.. are they (the inference here) so far behind GM and Rivian here?

They are way ahead of both of them. Tesla will be ready for selling vehicles in under a year from now. The others won't. They don't need to hype the cybertruck with new information until they are ready to have final configurations. With likely new model s and x details coming in the next week or so we won't need cybertruck hype for a few months.

I hope you’re right. But, my guess is that they’ve discovered that, like building semis, building trucks is a little more difficult than building cars.
