CEO Elon Musk acknowledged in a tweet that as part of continued effort to expand charging locations, the company hopes to bridge capability for routes between the U.S., Canada and Central America next year.

Tesla has been hyping its plan to increase the number of superchargers in the network, with a goal is to deploy 10,000 superchargers around the world by the end of 2017. The company previously announced the locations of the new stations, but Musk’s tweet suggests there will likely be additional Superchargers to enable trans-country travel.

So far, Tesla has opened 900 stations with the charging capacity for 6,000 cars. They still have significant work to do this year. And, in 2018, the supercharger expansion goal grows to 18,000 stalls around the world.
