Elon Musk has given us a first look inside The Boring Company’s test tunnel in Hawthorn, Calif.
The 500 foot tunnel is the beginning of a larger project that will stretch “the whole 405 N-S corridor from LAX to the 101 in a year or so,” Musk said.
Musk’s plan is to transport vehicles through the tunnel on “electric skates” at speeds up to 130 mph. Vehicles would be lowered into the tunnel by a street-level car elevator, something Musk has also showed off on his social media accounts.
The Boring Company has been busy. Earlier this month the company announced a second boring machine and the start of work on a Baltimore-DC tunnel project.
