MX delivery - license bracket?

Hello,

We'll be taking delivery of our MX in a couple weeks. The folks from Tesla told me that there will be a front license bracket installed.

From what I remember, the S has the bracket and X did not.

Did something change recently?

I recall reading somewhere that a new regulation in California effective 1/1/18 mandates installation of front & rear license plate brackets by dealers themselves.
Maybe Tesla is being proactive. I’m picking up my MX in 2 weeks as well and plan on emailing my DS requesting that the front bracket NOT be installed by drilling into the bumper. There are a couple of ways to install without drilling holes in the bumper and I’d rather do that my self.

Spoke with my Delivery Specialist yesterday and requested that the bracket not be mounted by drilling holes. She did state that the bracket has NOT been attached on the MX she has seen so far. She also mentioned that brackets for all vehicles are installed at the factory and she has no control over that either. So if the factory is now installing the brackets on the front of the MX, then that is what I will get.

That’s BS...my DS, upon my request, was very gracious and said we do not install it until delivery, and only after the purchaser requests because there are aftermarket options that do not require drilling and they realize how expensive these things are.

I would warn your DS NOT to install or you will refuse delivery/demand repairs.

There is no law in any state that requires it to be attached via their bracket and not a bracket like The Law...
