MX FOB Question

Asking for a celebrity....

The FOB is left on his wife's driver side front tire. He approached the car, opened the door, got in and backed the car out. In this process he drove over the FOB.

He drove the car to run an errand and returned it to find the FOB has been destroyed.

My question is after the car is unlocked and put into gear, do you not need the FOB to be present in the car?

Once the car is in gear, the fob is no longer required. It will pop up an instrument cluster display alert that the fob is out of range and you will not be able to restart the car afterwards (though you can always use the phone app).
