MX hood has un-buffed finish, advise?

My MX which I took delivery on Thursday has what appears to be unbuffed wax/product on the hood that impacts the finished look. See video here:

I reached out to the delivery specialist and they said I should talk to the sales rep. I was simply told to schedule a service appointment and the soonest one available is February 2nd week. At that point I will be past my 7-day return window and I think will lose any leverage, if any, I have as a consumer.

Is this something Tesla will fix or I will end up paying for it?

I clean my same x with a product called clay bar and it makes the color really deep looking. I think from what i see it is on the surface and should come off with little effort. I would try to get ii cleaned yourself and forget about the service center.

Take it to a detailer and get an opinion on whether it is something that can be easily resolved. If not, return the vehicle before the 7-day grace period.

If you have documented in writing and email to your delivery advisor and sales person, then they will likely take care of it no problem. I had some paint and finish issues and my X is just wrapping up its repairs. My hood had to be repainted to get rid of s similar defects along with some dust nibs under the paint. But be sure you document your issues in writing to everyone. When I got to my service appt there was an intense moment as they said they didnt have a "due bill" for the repair and they requested that I send proof that I had told the DA and SA about the issue.

Thank you, that's helpful to know. I have an email chain that was started the day after I took delivery and noticed this.

My 3 came with a spot like this. I didn't really notice until some time after I picked it up. I ended up getting wrapped with matte ppf so it wasn't visible. I am not sure how to resolve your issue, just letting you know this was a problem with my car which was delivered August 2018

Just show up at the service center. Explain the situation and ask if their detailer can look at it. Should take them 10 minutes. Take pictures before just in case they make it worse.

I did they recommended I make a service appt. I think its more than just unbuffed wax or something and a clear coat issue.
