I ordered my Model X 75D on Nov 18th, and got confirmed on 11/21. The car entered production the week of 12/10 and was set for a delivery date of Dec 18th, but at the last minute, got pushed out to Dec 21st, as the production slipped by a day.

On the delivery day of Dec 21st, I found a few issues on the car, as shown in the pictures, but still took the delivery, trusting Tesla to take care of them ASAP.

Primarily, there was a warped panel trim/seal where the rear falcon wing door meets the panel behind it, small knicks on the wheels, scratches on the trunk trim piece, some misaligned FWDs causing some indents on the underlying seals, etc. There was also a weird leather trim where the steering wheel column meets the dash. It looks like an amateurish chop-shop job to see an open edge like that on a car in this price range.

I started to notice a constant squeak from the rear on day 2, and it's been ever present since then. It'd be an embarrassment to take any friends in the car with that audible squeak, on a brand new 100K car. I booked a service appointment for Jan 4th, hoping for the best.

@XtheGas Could you move your steering wheel, towards the driver, and see if this leather piece pops out? My service advisor tried to brush it off saying that's standard.. because a Model X is different from other cars. o_O

I tried mine doesn’t look like urs ..the FWD alignment items can be fixed as well as most of your other items ..I’m not sure I would have rejected car entirely I would have asked for some goodwill (ie yearly service ) Tesla typically would throw that in ..

When I pointed out these issues to the service advisor at the service center, he basically shrugged it off saying it's within their acceptable limits. I'm disappointed at the lackadaisical attitude at this service visit, even though I got a decent loaner, and they fixed the biggest issue - squeaky seats. I will not be returning to this service location - on Page Avenue in Fremont (literally down the road from the factory).

They will always say this bullshit. That it's 'within spec' or that 'it' s normal for a tesla.'

It's not. They are just trying to push out shoddy cars to customers. Don't ever accept a low level tesla employee' s word at ANYTHING. They are known to lie and make up things on the spot.

always get a supervisor, and get it IN WRITING.

Yea. I wouldn’t have taken delivery. I remember one store manager telling me the defects were inevitable and Tesla is a startup so that you just have to accept any imperfections. Basically told me to pound sand if I don’t like it.

Can someone please check out the following image showing an exposed leather trim piece at the base of the steering column, and let me know if your MX has this kind of exposed edge?? View attachment 367057

Interesting picture. On my car the top of the steering column has nothing, but I have a piece that looks like this on the bottom, except is bellowed out like a seal. I assumed it designed to be that way to prevent dust from getting into the area under the steering column when you telescope it in and out.

A couple of the pictures bother me. Main one is actually the gap between your front and rear doors where I can actually see through to the tesla sticker behind it. Some of the other things are definitely NOT "within spec" but don't bother me as much. I had a handful of issues too. For the most part, they made it right. I hope they will do the same for you. I assume you already took delivery, so the point is already moot. Just see what they can do for you to fix the issues, but I will advise you to pick your battles. Don't ask them to fix things if you're happy enough with it. It's entirely possible they'll make it worse or break something else.

Thanks to all who replied with your thoughts. I guess the one picture of the driver-side door showing the sticker behind it was misleading to many here. The comments made me go over to the car again and look for the gap, which thankfully doesn't exist now. I must have had the driver's side door slightly ajar when I took the picture, which was unintentional, and gave the wrong impression that there was such a wide gap there.

Nearly three months since the delivery, the car is holding up well, and a couple of issues were taken care of at the local SC. Though the service appointment fixed the serious complaints, the way the service rep gave me a bunch of BS about some minor complaints, and I will never go back to that service center again (1220 Page Ave, Fremont, CA).

After everything, I am a happy camper now!
