Personally I prefer to work out the remaining kWh rather than range. Range is influenced by a lot of factors (although Tessie might take a fixed conversion), but I do think at least some people's loss of range is not about the battery as much as other factors influencing the car's assessment of driving efficiency.

Before road trips, we charge to 90-95% overnight, to 100 the hour before we leave.
You probably already know this, but you can set the car to charge on "off-peak times" and say the off-peak time is ending just before you're planning to leave. The car will figure out when it needs to start to hit 100% (or whatever your charging goal is) right when you are ready to leave. It's what I've been doing and it works very well.
