Just got the news. It won’t be here for Christmas. Its coming when I get back from Palm Springs. I’ll be back though!!
Now I have to go to some dogforsaken place like Westwood to see it sooner! I'm beginning to feel as irritable and irritating as @run-the-joules ! Hey, wait a minute, can you bring your X90D out to the desert instead? I'll meet you wherever to see that one too! That would be a very nice consolation prize.
For those taking delivery, if have a chance to supercharge, please capture the data and share here. We have a few isolated points of a Model 3supercharge taper but nothing close to complete.
Is there a separate thread for that or a spreadsheet. Not planning to hit the Superchargers as heavy as I did when the MS appeared as we were all blindly curious. But it was fun circling the SC to get as close to zero before charging and then taking close to 2 hours to suck out the last possible SC watt. Ah yes, back then we hadn't discovered that we were better off not fully charging on a trip (made it go faster). And max charge rate the car could (and still does) handle was 90 kwH.
I don't mean to be rude, but it's been approximately 25 mins since your scheduled delivery. Where are the pics? ;-) Seriously - CONGRATULATIONS! Have Fun GasDoc!
No existing thread to my knowledge. There have been screenshots posted in various threads. Feel free to create a new one. It shouldn’t be up to one person, but rather we should have lots of folks contributing segments of the charge curve (like in the early days of the Sig Model S). I’ll volunteer to piece them together to create a graphical representation.
Thnx Apacheguy. I will keep notes of any Supercharging I do. (Starting charge level, Charge rate, Data points during, Ending charge rate and Time elapsed.) Think of more?
I spoke with a guy yesterday who said his daughter works at Tesla in deliveries. Said she put in about 29 hours overtime last week. Mentioned I saw photos of all the cars in the lot ready to be delivered and told him we appreciated that from her! I also saw a boatload of Teslas lined up for delivery in Norway too. Can't wait to see the numbers at the end of December and for the year. Excited for all you guys picking up cars in the next days/weeks. GasDoc anxiously waiting to see your 3!
Come on, it's been nearly 3 hours since your scheduled delivery, Gasdoc. What could he possibly be doing right now?
OK. OK. I'm home...LOL Impressions of the Model 3 Fremont delivery center: Really nice facility. No public charging but that's nitpicking. You check in and they tell you to have a coffee and a seat while they get your DS. Good baristas and all the usual coffee drinks available as well as tea and hot chocolate. The menu has a "Ludicrous Latte" consisting of four shots of espresso and steamed milk. When the car is ready they take you to some tables in the delivery area. Every car has a spotlight on it. I saw three Model 3's there. Paperwork is painless. Now the car...I gave it a good going over looking at the seams. Fit and finish is perfect. The body seams are tight and uniform. DS sets up your phone to be used as a key and gives a good overview of how the car works. Driving...It's fast. My daily driver is a P85 and the Model 3 didn't feel sluggish at all. I didn't do any rocket starts but it had no problem getting into any spot that I wanted to on the freeway. A friend is holding out for dual motors and he says he may change his order to get his car earlier now. UI take a bit getting used to after 3+ years in a Model S. It's unnerving to look down at the steering wheel in a dark car and see nothing but blackness. It's roomy enough for my 14 and 21 year old in the back seat. They didn't complain .
Congrats!! But curse you for those @#$%& photos. I had convinced myself that blue is the way to go for the 3, but the MC Red looks so good ....
They charge for SuperCharging from the outset. No electricity included with car other than what's in the battery.
You, sir, are not helping. I am delaying for the AWD in hopes it has performance numbers closer to my P85. But it is hard to sit on a invite to configure in your email.
