This appears to be new for 4.3 - I compared against another Model S that is still on 4.2:

Perhaps the first Model S Easter Egg?

Maybe that's metric, like the rest of your display?

But that was advertised/well-known (even in magazine articles), so I wouldn't consider it an Easter Egg. This one was just snuck in there ;)

Maybe that the new firmware has divided the range of the fan speed in eleven rather than ten. I think that from an electronic point of view this is possible.

Yeah ... they must have made the same gradient move to the a/c fan like they did to the volume ... I noticed a distinctly slower fan after 4.3 ... this explains it.

So you have more choice both in the volume and in the fan speed. It's good.

    That's a change with 4.3, yes.

The max fan speed is 8 when the Range Mode is ON. It is 11 when the range mode is off. At 8, on a cold winter day, the speed of heating the car is inadequate. Tesla service told me to turn off the Range Mode to get the higher fan speed - at the cost of poorer "fuel economy." In the summer, the fan speed of 8 is adequate, so, the Range Mode can be ON.
