My First Tesla-2021 Model S Plaid MSM-Pics

The "sunken look" is minimal with the 21s but it's a bit more noticeable with the 19s. The 265/295s on the 21s compared to the 255/285s on the 19s make a slight difference. When I parked next to another Plaid with 21s, the 19s on my car seem to have a little bit more of the "sunken look." It's not really an eye sore but I'd still like to get my 19" wheels flush without changing tires. I'd have no concerns putting 15mm or 20mm spacers on my car as long as the spacers are hubcentric and made specifically to fit the Plaid. Also made with the strongest aluminum.
Each to his own! 👍

I have the 20's from an X and they are wider than the 19's

I agree with the route you're taking. As you mentioned, it's more noticeable after the car is lowered.

Hey Drew here is another shot where you can see the sunken effect which you concur with me needs some love (R8 has 15mm spacers)

Did not read all the comments but did you get the Type 3 spacers from Motorsport Tech with the new studs? Would 1000% recommend that type...thats what I have on mine and had on my old Model S.

Also 20MM is going to be really aggressive on that wheel...curious on the end result. I did 25MM on mine but I put on Twin Turbine wheels which are not as wide so the fit is going to be different.

If you already received/installed, please post a pic. As soon as they're ready, I'm going with Motorsport-Tech 15mm on all 4.

Thanks, but I can't copy/paste. Please repost the picture.

I think they are the type 3 (adapters) and 20mm square but with a non tapered back pad so the short snout on the axle is hubcentric. I just ordered them Tuesday so its going to be another 1-2 weeks. Ill post here for sure.

Here are some other pics I took under some UV lights last night:

Vic55. You made it! Vic55 Is the man with a new car every week. Congrats!
I had my good friend, nothing that traps 150 and does a sub 10 for this price should be left unsecured. Im sure you are having fun because I sure am!!!

Its funny cause the guys at MBWorld, once they found out, immediately cited that their cars or their Porsches would be better at an HPDE. I was like "who gives a fck as I did not buy this car for HPDE events" but instead to rape and pillage wannabes on the regular streets LOL.

I am certainly having fun. I don’t know why they have fixed mindsets knowing you have 30 hot cars at the same time.

This car delivers for what I need. Making people believe one demo run at a time.

If you already received/installed, please post a pic. As soon as they're ready, I'm going with Motorsport-Tech 15mm on all 4.

Here are pictures of the Motorsport-Tech Type 3 spacers in 25mm. (BTW I have a pair of 22mm ones available for sale for a Refresh Model S and a set of four 20mm for a 2012-2021 if anyone is looking for spacers).

These 25MM are paired with with Tesla Twin Turbine wheels which are much less aggressive than the Refresh Arachnid wheels.

The Refresh Arachnid wheels are 21x9.5 +40MM front and 21x10.5 +45MM rear.
The Twin Turbine are 21x8.5 +40MM front and 21x9 +40MM rear.

That means that with no spacers at all, the Twin Turbine would stick inward 0.50" (12.7MM) on the front compared to the Arachnids and 0.56" (14.1MM) on the rear.

Adding 25MM to the Twin Turbines would be the equivalent of adding 12MM spacers on the front and 11MM spacers on the back with Refresh Arachnids wheels...so if you like the space of mine with the spacers and have a Refresh with Arachnids, thats the size of spacers you need. These are right flush with the top fo the fender arch...anything more and the wheel is going to stick awkwardly out beyond the fender.

@HX_Guy Beautiful car!!👍👍

Would the spacers you have for the prior generation Model S work fine with the 20 inch MX Slipstreams on a S? That's what I have on my 2016 S. Specs of the wheels are:
  • Front wheels: 20 x 9.0 +35 mm offset.
  • Rear wheels: 20 x 9.5 +35mm offset.
If yes, please let me know as I'd like to buy them.

Thanks for posting--- Im glad I didnt order these as they would not have worked on the Plaid due to the taper on the back of the spacer. The start of the rear area is actually wider for about 2mm (based on the pic) and thats what happened with my UPD ones. The snout on the Plaid hub is much shorter than the MSLR so it wont grab a spacer hubcentrically with that taper. Thankfully MS is building me a set with no taper!

They would fit but honestly I think they may be too aggressive (thick). I had the Turbine wheels on my 2016 Model S and those wheels were 21x8.5 +40MM offset. Your wheels are wider and have a more aggressive offset already.

Comparing your wheels against the Turbines, it would be like the Turbines with 11MM front spacers and 18MM rear spacers. I think adding 20MM spacers to that would make them stick out too much honestly, but if you want I'm selling them for $100 + shipping.

Looks really nice. The Twin Turbine wheels (with spacers lol) look good on the refresh.

@Drew-MS

One thing I really wish were some differentiators with the Plaid from a styling aspect. I took a flyer because they said it would fit (Maxton Design USA) and got the front lip spoiler and rear diffuser but of course they did not fit as the Model S refresh is not the same as the Plaid. And I asked this over and over:

Thanks for the explanation. Makes perfect sense.

Do you think they will work on the 19 inch Slipstreams (my winter setup) as in not sticking out past the fender?

Yea that's definitely annoying. It would have been nice if there were some differences but I guess Tesla wanted the LR and Plaid to be identical.
