My Model 3 is the best car I've ever owned!

I've owned several cars over the years.

My first car was an El Camino SS that my father surprised me with when I was in high school, later I had a fully loaded 75 Buick with an Olds 403 that was responsible for a great many tickets. Because of this, my mom got some say in my next car. It was a Ford escort. I promptly blew up the motor in that thing and transitioned to a 88 Mustang. (also crap) The next car I got was my first brand new car. It was a Saturn SL1. It was gutless but it was different and it was new, so I didn't mind that much. I had that car for about 6 years before buying another piece of crap. PT Cruiser. The next two cars after that were both Toyota Prius's they were good cars that both served me well.

BUT NOTHING, I MEAN NOTHING even comes close to being as awesome as my Model 3.

I've had the car for nearly 4 months now and I still love it like the day it was delivered to me.
I make an excuse to drive it almost every day. Got mail to send out? Who wan't to use that pesky mailbox next to my condo... nope, I'm driving to the next town to use one of theirs. And all they while I find myself with this stupid grin while I drive (or let AP drive) because I just can't believe that I've been lucky enough to own one of these amazing machines.

I'm an IT guy by trade so technology is my passion. Every update is like Christmas to me, even if it's just something minor.
I marvel at the improvements in the cars abilities in just the short time that I've owned it. Yes I did pay for full self driving. No I'm not worried about how long it takes to get released. I have faith that it will (well a little more than faith but I'm not going to expand on that.) ;) and there is plenty of capability in the car now to keep me happy.

I've had one service experience with my car, and it was handled perfectly without any of the drama I frequently read about. Overall Tesla has been wonderful to me.

All in all the car has substantially exceeded all of my expectations. I usually get better mileage then I was told I would get.
My cost of ownership has been cheaper than I planned, and I wasn't worried about what I planned. Lastly the smiles per mile are through the roof.

The only thing that has cost me more (and not much more) is my insurance. But I expect that to change over time once the industry as a whole is forced to accept that Electric cars are going to be the new normal.

Anyhow there you go. I love this car!

I haven't owned 59 cars, but I have owned a few sporty cars and the M3 is by far the best I've ever owned. It does everything well. I'd say the closest car in terms of fun was probably my 1999 Prelude, but it was SLOW compared to the M3, it did corner about as well though. The others (including a G35 M6 Coupe) weren't even in the running.

I’ve owned some great cars. My Dad’s 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix...V8, midnight blue with white bench seat interior. I drove from NY to LA in that car and started my adult life.

1983 Honda Civic S. Bought it used. My first purchased car. Loved that one.

1997 BMW Z3 2.8 convertible. My first convertible. My first German car. It would prove to be the first of many.

2000 BMW 540i. To this day the best car I ever owned. Kept it for 19 years. Sold in this spring for $1500.

2002 Chevrolet Corvette convertible. Triple black. It was a beast. Comfortable. Leaked in the rain.

2016 Porsche 911S. What can I say?

2017 Porsche Macan GTS. Really enjoy this vehicle. 911 DNA in a more urban friendly package.

2019 Tesla Model 3. A very enjoyable car, and a new paradigm in my automobile journey.

I totally agree.

We needed a car quickly last March after our 14 year old Prius got broadsided by a Chevy work van. We looked at the Leaf, Bolt, Prius, Model S, X and 3.

We met with Jamie Long at Paramus NJ Tesla & told him that we wanted a Silver 3. He apologized and said that they were no longer making the 3 in silver. We explained that for business purposes we really needed a Silver 3. A few hours later he called and said that he found a silver 3 in Chicago. It was new, but had been used as a 'demo' car - AWD, LR, White interior. He offered to deliver it to us, but we opted to fly from NJ to Chicago to pick it up (83.00 per ticket). Jamie coordinated with Liz in the Westmont IL location to have everything ready.

We arrived at O'Hare in Chicago at about 5 pm, made our way to Westmont Tesla and met up with Liz. It took no more than 10 minutes to sign the paperwork, but then, because we were about to drive 800 miles to NJ, Liz very patiently spent about 45 to 55 minutes going over the workings of the car.

The following morning we hopped in and the car configured the route and the SC stops. We stayed the night at a hotel in Clarion PA that had a Tesla charger.

I suppose that when your first trip is 800 miles you really get to know the car pretty quickly. We drove in pouring rain, blue sky / sun & light snow. The car handled beautifully throughout. We felt secure, comfortable and in control of the road at all times. When we got to the hotel we both commented that the seating was so comfortable that neither one of us were sore or achy. We had good experiences at the Super Charger stops.

Overall, Jamie in Paramus NJ and Liz in Westmont IL were both great. Our experiences with the company all very super. Keep in mind, also, that we talked with Jamie on a Monday & picked up the car from Liz on Thursday.

My wife & I dated for 10 years and have been married for 35 and we both agree that while we have had many cars over the years - the 3 makes driving fun again! We have no regrets with our decision and look forward to the day when all cars are electric.

Wow, that sounds awesome. I totally would have done that as well. And by the time you got home you were both pros.
Yeah, the one thing I left out of my post was that a black car in California can be a challenge at times. Both with heat and keeping it clean. I think I'll save up a bit and see if I can get it wrapped a lighter color at some point. I like the flat gun metal grey that I've seen a few people do. But white stays clean the longest... Decisions...
