I go into the garage to take my glasses out of the car and noticed large amounts of steam/smoke leaking out of the bottom front under-shield of the car. And it has a faint to medium smell of melted rubber/plastic. The car was also making some strange water noise. Never experienced this before, its roughly 76 degrees in the garage. Is this a concern?

It was much more severe in person, couldn't entirely capture it on camera.

@KMTG.... Call the Tesla 800 number immediately. I wouldn't take a chance on an issue. The cooling system is closed.

@K-MTG Remove the Tesla from your Garage in the interim and place in the drive way as a precaution. It may be just something venting, but a potential battery issue would cause caution.

Yes, no issues driving it and the car isn't reporting any errors.

Weird. I haven't noticed smoking or and of that noise. But I sometimes notice a burning plastic smell.

Had a similar occurrence on a brand new Model S loaner I got from my SC (it had about 40km on it when I got it as a loaner). It had that smoke scared me a little, but int away after a few mins and never had any issue with it

My Model X was smoking in the garage over the summer. After plastering a Surgeon General's warning on the wall, it stopped.

In all seriousness, @K-MTG, I really hope you figured out what was going on. That's disconcerting.

I took it for a drive and everything seemed fine, will monitor it while it charges at 10 PM (2 minutes from now). I told it that smoking will make you no different than an ICE, so it appears to be behaving now.

Perhaps it could have knocked out some AC line, but that would be strange since I don't even see a scratch on the car. Braking would probably put more stress compared to that impact.
