Looks like new AP 2.0 hardware is out. Check out Tesla's website.
I had the same post for My P85D one month after taking delivery. Darn progress...
I know, welcome to owning a Tesla.
I believe the only silver lining is I would imagine it being a while before one can take advantage of the features plus it sounds like even if you took delivery tomorrow, you can't even use AP 1.0 features yet.
Maybe a retrofit option for current owners???
Mine fell too, welcome to the club. Now what do I do?
B) Beg Elon for a retrofit (doubt it won't happen)
C) Sell my kidney to purchase a new one
D) Enjoy my current X and wait for my M3
I've only ever purchased cars.
Makes me really want to lease my future Tesla.
screwed by a few months
Same here. However the new hardware won't have software for full autonomy anytime soon. Also our government hasn't authorized yet full autonomy.
It is hard to think of what other MAJOR addition Tesla can make to it for the foreseeable future though. Once your fully autonomous then what?
I do believe current owners are somewhat protected. Most of us paid $2500 for AP. If you want to use it fully featured with AP 2.0 you are paying 8k.
Me too but then again I am still going to keep my car for a while.
Welcome to the club. Many owners went through this before all of you. Some just missed parking sensors, some just missed AWD, some just missed Autopilot, and now some are just missing Full Self-Driving Hardware. It's just part of being a Tesla Owner. We just missed Autopilot but our Classic S is still a wonderful vehicle. Enjoy the vehicle you got and realize any Tesla is light years superior than any of the competition.
Forgot to Add I'd bet serious money retrofit isn't possible. It's not possible for pre-autopilot cars to get Autopilot 1.0 hardware and it won't be possible for Auto-Pilot cars to get Full Self-Driving hardware.
I leased mine so I can take advantage of the business expense. my brother and i just talked about it because we were debating own vs lease and now I am firm on the lease. I think we need to think of the car as any electronic item we have and that it will be improved a upon on a regular basis. the only downside is always having a payment but as log as i can use it as a business expense im ok with it.
Although I do sympathize with y'all, I'm even more psyched about my pending solid white MX 60D with accessory hitch order.
I missed it by days but I knew I was missing it.
I got a 60d which was never avialiable with 2.0. So there's that
Also I wonder what the real Pain will be. A "now" X hasn't taken that big of a hit and you have a $7500 cushion with tax credit. Plus if you trade in now you get another tax credit.
Personally I would wait to get a "2017" car and let them iron out some initial kinks but I'll love to hear the first reports of trade in values of 2-3 month old Xs steam in.
I will email my OA for an estimate for fun
Good news! RETROFIT will be an option for current owners for 10k. Found on Tesla's website under Model X design studio.
Where in Design Studio, didn't see this? Doesn't make sense at all.
Link and screenshot please.
He's just going by the "after delivery upgrade" price. $6000 for enhanced ap and $4000 for full autonomy.
Ya for new builds not our current ones
