My MX Delivery Experience

Hey everyone,

I’ve spent enough time ready the experiences of others and given I got my MX today I thought I’d do the same. I’m sure people will have an opinion about my opinion so I’ll start by saying I like Tesla and I do have a small amount of stock but I’m no fan boy but I love cars and tech nd whilst my experience may be worse or better than others it’s my opinion and I welcome comments

Here goes...

Ordering my MX was a great experience back in April however about a month ago I pretty much though very little of Tesla after they messed me about on my trade in value which ended with me selling private, then they miss quotes my monthly finance which mean I either had to pay a little more each month or up my down payment. I managed to sort this and if nothing else put it all behind me ready for today but based on the above and reading other stories I wasn’t expecting very much from my handover so much so I felt physically sick on the way to the SC as I was dreading a kickoff about yet more issues this time with the car.

Arrive about 40mins too early but the staff, super friendly got us dinks etc my time came and we quickly did the paperwork and walked to the car.

The delivery specialist who’s I’d dealt with previous was really nice, went through everything and really couldn’t be more helpful, at no point did I feel rushed or that I was causing a fuss. After we’d gone through all the settings etc she asked me to check the car over.

I went over every single panel and inch of the car before going inside and doing the same and whilst I reported a number of issues all of them where super minor and even my wife was like “what Mark I don’t see it” most of the hour, brief summary of the issues I’d found:

• Front deffuser had marks on it, detainers couldn’t fix so they are replacing
• Small stone chip on FWD edge less than 1mm,
• Small 1”scratch in the clear coat on the bonnet, fella said they would replace bonnet, I said that means a re-spray of the whole front end then “no thanks” try to polish it which they will look at when next in
• Headliner has a small scuff at the rear, unclear on timescales for the part but agreed to replace
• Some glue on the window trim of the passenger door, gettin fixed
• Slight defect in the stitching on the top of the dash

Considering the horror stories I’ve read I was very pleased, I actually said to the guys How impressed I was with the car and apart from the above was faultless.

Done about 100 miles since I’ve got it and I just bloody love this car so much!!!!

It’s a real shame that some SC’s are frankly crap and give customers a bad experience, I consider myself very lucky and thankful the guys where so good and that my MX was in a good condition.

Yeah it’s Obsidian.. better not be solid I paid for it lol. Difficult to see in the pic but in real life it’s metalic and I love it

Not got a pic but something else I noticed they have changed the floor board in the boot “I’ve got a five seater”

Not that fussed myself but clearly making changes to save money it did have a black metal handle that lifted up to pick the board up however now it’s just a loop of faux leather on the end.

Will try get more pics and I’m sure you guys will be able to identify anything that’s changed

Yeah I have the loop but I overall like it. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't sit flat, so that means I can't use most all-weather mats to cover that panel.

The car is lovely though, glad you had a good experience! you'd think with all the other posts on TMC this car would fall apart the second you sat inside.

So cool! I asked because I’m awaiting delivery of an obsidian black MX myself and it’s hard to find photos of them so yours are manna from heaven for me! There’s no upper limit on the number of photos you can post

I was thinking buying mine black during a time. Wasn’t sure between the regular and obsidian one. While visiting my SC, there where those two side to side. Couldn’t tell the difference. Even from up close

I’m ordering midnight silver in the end

EDIT: by looking back at the picture, I think obsidian is the one on the back. But really, turning around both cars up close it was not easy seeing the difference.

Personally I was torn I ordered white then changed to silver then settled on black.

My plan now is stealth.. once I get the black 22s and chrome delete I’ll be set

First clean today... so much polish residue on the black plastic trim bits it’s a stretch to call them detailers lol

Glad it all went well with you, did you have Thomas or Ben? I've already been to Stockport to have a look at my car so no nasty surprises, there's a few small things to sort, but hopefully they will do so before I collect next week, I've not seen inside yet or opened the doors so hopefully they all ok.

Neither had Jennie do the delivery but I’ve dealt with both of them in the course of the purchase actually spoke to Ben on the day about some of my issues.

God knows I’ve moaned enough to them, sure they have a pic of me on a dart board but they are a good group and do a great job to get the cars tip top for delivery.
